Wind Waker HD bundle, which will also retail for $299.99 / roughly £250 and includes a 32GB hard drive, a special Zelda-themed GamePad, a digital copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and a digital version of the Zelda Hyrule Historia Book.

Nintendo announced the 2DS, a new entry-level handheld system. The 2DS will be available in North America for $129.99 on October 12th (the same day as Pokemon X and Y) and features a slate-like design rather than the clamshell seen on DS and 3DS models.

The 2DS is fully compatible with all 3DS and DS games but does not include the ability to display games in 3D. It still features all the functionality of 3DS (WiFi, local multiplayer, etc.) and can be put to sleep using a slider that replicates closing the clamshell on a standard 3DS. WiFi can still be turned off, though it’s done via controls in the software rather than with a physical switch.

Wow Nintendo really came out the door swinging with info! I'm excited to see what is next!

Avengers Vol. 1 Graphic Novel Review

Hello Everyone,

It's that time again. This week's Graphic Novel Review.

New Avengers Volume 1: Everything Dies

New Avengers Volume 1 by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting is the second Avengers book this team is working on. Where the main Avengers book is about the creation of a team of Earth's mightiest heroes being the face of the defense of the world; the New Avengers is about Marvels Illuminati (Iron Man, Captain America, Professor X (whose replacement is revealed this issue), Dr. Strange, Blackbolt, Black Panther, Mr. Fantastic, and my favorite Namor, who is in full on King Dick mode the whole book. This clandestine team tasked themselves with taking on Earth's biggest problems from the shadows where they can do what must be done unfettered.

In this book the Illuminati are dealing with a threat to Earth from the incursion of other Earths from all over the multiverse. If the incursion is successful and the Earths collide the entire universe will be destroyed, this leads to the Illuminati struggling with what to do to prevent this and debating if they are prepared or willing to do what is necessary to save their world. Epting’s art does a great job if illustrating the weight of the issues the team is dealing with and you can see the change in the characters demeanor as the gradual realization of what must be done dawns on them.

This book is a setup for Marvel's next big event, Infinity, and if that event is anything like this volume and the main Avengers book I’m excited to see where it goes and how it will effect the rest of the Marvel Universe and status quo.

Video Game High School Review

Hey Guys,

So I randomly watch movies on Netflix and sometimes I stumble upon some interesting items ie Thankskilling. I decided to give this movie called Video Game High School (2012)a chance. It is about 2 hours long. When I went to do research on this movie for my blog post I realized that it was in fact a TV show and can be found at Rocket Jump: VGHS. So here is my review on this Movie/TV show.

IMDB Story line: The story is about a down on his luck, young aspiring gamer. He has no friends. His cat hates him. His name is Brian (Josh Blaylock). He loves playing video games. One day during a public match the number one gamer the "Law" (Brian Firenzi) arrives to do a little bit of showing off. Out of no where Brian manages to kill the "Law". It's like the shot heard around the world. Because of it and all the hype Brian gets invited to Video Game High School. It's about a kid and all the troubles of high school but in a very different way. It's a competitive gaming school. While attending VGHS Brian tries to make it to his dream of playing at the highest level of gaming with his friends Ted Wong (Jimmy Wong) and Ki Swan (Elleray Porterfield). Along the way he develops a crush on Jenny Matrix (Johanna Braddy), the JV FPS Captain.

My Thoughts:
So I did a lot of stumbling before I came across this movie. It is really a TV show but they put all the episodes together to give you a two hour long movie. It also looks like it had a Kickstarter to it so that's cool. It is surprisingly awesome. I am now watching season 2. The overall flow of the story line is well put together. It did not feel choppy despite it being a TV show turned into a movie.

The story had an almost Scott Pilgrim feel to it. The main character Brian D. raises to stardom for killing the number 1 ranked player in FPS. The writers did a fantastic job with setting up this epic defeat. Brian walks away from the game to let the cat out. I am sure we can all remember times when we had to walk away from COD and hope we do not get killed. Well Brian's whole team is destroyed by "Law". As Brian is about to be killed he sits back down with his hotpocket and does an awesome move and kills the Law. The whole battle is being broadcasted so Brian becomes a star overnight.

It is actually a pretty cool concept to have a high school just for gamers and all types of gamers from FPS, Rhythm, and Drifters. Brian is excited to receive the invitation. It is a little creepy to see that his mom just sits in a chair all day and plays video games with one of those weird beer hats on her head but I guess that is okay.

I am assuming that the VGHS world is in the future of some sort as the ability of the games are beyond the current level. It was funny to see how Brian tries so hard to fit in and how his friends just continue to make it hard. The main bully "Law" continues to do everything possible to ruin Brian and have him be kicked out of school.

What made this a great movie to watch is that while they were in fact playing on a PC with the appropriate gear, they showed the avatar of the person in the game.

So on one hand it really brought the FPS world to life which was a great concept, on the other hand you had these messed up deaths with people taking a bullet to the head. It made the violence level a little higher than normal but despite that I enjoyed watching Brian work hard to win the girl in the FPS world.

As in any high school there is a JV team and a Varsity team. Law is the captain of the Varsity and Jenny is captain of the JV. Brian is of coarse crushed when he realizes that Jenny and Law are an item but he continues to show her throughout the story that he is a good guy.

Of coarse Law finally pushes Brian too far. He actually punches Law and a huge fight breaks out which results in Brian being expelled. Now this is where it gets a little bit weird. Brian strolls over to a local arcade and begins working there and within 24hrs takes over and is wearing a white suit as if he is the Pit Boss. Luckily due a loophole Brian is able to compete in a battle despite being expelled. Of coarse Law cheats and joins the battle when he sees the Varsity squad losing.

The movie ends with all being right in the world. Brian gets back into school. He beats the Law and lands a spot on the JV squad. Jenny is now his captain but he at least gets a couple of kisses in. The show is now in Season 2. Check this movie out on Netflix and get caught up on the TV show.

Gamer Corner: Paul

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to this week's installment of Gamer Corner, where Fangirl Reviews interviews a gamer and gets their thoughts on the gaming world and learn what they are enjoying at the moment.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I’m a 50 year old father of two. I’ve been gaming since I was 14. I’m married to a gamer who played Tetris for hours waiting to go into labor with our son. Yes, my son was actually born into gaming.

2. What system do you currently game on?

You’re going to think I’m lying (wry smile). My rig is an off-the-shelf HP Pavilion, AMD quad core, 8 gigs of RAM, 500 watt power supply and a Radeon HD 6770 1 gig. It will run ANYTHING up to and including Crisis 3.

3. What game are you logged into right now?

Warframe

4. Do you enjoy that game, why? How’s the overall game play?

Very much so. It’s a beta that is better than many full release games I've played. The graphics, mechanics and physics are top notch and it has a good bit of content.

5. Would you recommend it?

Absolutely. You can get it through Steam for free. If you enjoy third person shooter solo game play or co-op this is a must have.

6. Are there any games coming out that you are looking forward to?

Star Citizen is at the top of my list. I picked it up on “Kickstarter” which is something I wouldn't normally do. But with the whole project being led by Chris Robertson, it’s bound to be epic.

7. What kind of gamer do you classify yourself to be? ie. Harcore, RPG gamer, etc.

I’d say I’m a hardcore gamer with a casual interest in RPG’s. Seriously, I’ll play almost anything once. If it’s good I’ll be back. If it’s excellent I’m hooked.

8. So with the new consoles coming out, which way are you leaning One or 4?

I’m waiting for them to kill each other off. While there’s always been at least one console in my house for the kids, I gave up console gaming in 1994. I mean seriously? You pay for the console, you pay for the game, you pay for the internet and then they still want you to pay a monthly fee to use it on the internet you already paid for. Plus, if you want to play all the “good” games you need all the consoles. And then when they release the new version you can’t play your old games. No offense but I think they saw you console gamers coming from a long ways off. You’ve been duped, pawned, owned.

9. Favorite Video Game of all time and why?

F.E.A.R.. I’m not easily spooked. I laugh at horror movies. All the games in the “horror” genre that I have played have not been impressive until F.E.A.R. That game is spooky. It made me “feel” more than any game I have ever played. I even signed up for the upcoming closed beta.

10. Would you like to share your gamer tag, website, or social handle so others may add you?

In game I use “Casca”, or some derivative of. The name has a history and real world reference for me. My game persona email is gameshade09@gmail.com and you can find me on Google+ as Paul Faulkner. I also have a website for PC gamers to gather, share interests, and roll together in a variety of online games. You can find us and apply to join at  http://pcgamingcorp.corplaunch.com/ . I am still tweaking the site so don’t expect epic just yet.

Thank you to Paul for the fantastic interview.

How awesome is this Hillman tee for only $19.99. This would be awesome to add to your collection.

As you can see there are tees for the fellas so do not worry.

Check them out!

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - Movie Review

Mortal Instruments Movie Review

Hey guys,
I finally made it to see Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I am now ready to share my thoughts on this movie.

IMDB Story line: Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.

The movie starts with Clary constantly drawing a particular image and not understanding where it is coming from. Of Coarse like the typical teenager she defies her mother and goes to the local goth club. She sees Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) kill another person. She screams and no one else can see them. I believe in the book that the kill happened in a closet and not the middle of the club but that’s okay because this first brush with the Shadowhunter world was well done.

Clary of coarse runs into Jace again while she is at the local coffee house with Simon (Robert Sheehan). I really enjoyed Simon’s character throughout the movie. He really showed his loyalty to Clary very well and your heart broke for him when he did not have his love returned. I thought it was interesting that all that was mentined that his eyes were better after the run in with the vampires but not that he was turning into a vampire. Also his obsession of Isabelle (Jemima West) was not mentioned at all.

Clary’s mother is snatched and Clary goes bumbling along in the Shadowhunter world trying to find her. We understand that Alec (Kevin Zegers) is in love with Jace but when he throws Clary against the wall and is choking her for mentioning his love of Jace really brought to life the character of Alec.

Brother Jeremiah! That guy was as creepy on the big screen as he was in the book. Once they realize that Clary had a mental block and needs to be seen by the head warlock in town. I really enjoyed Magnus Bane (Godfrey Gao). Magnus was everything I hoped his character to be in more and I look forward to seeing him in the future movies. He was beyond fabulous and his eye make-up rivaled Lafayette from True Blood.

The fight at the vampire lair was a lot of fun. It made the movie more action packed and added a great element. Seeing the werewolves show up to help was good and made the movie more guy friendly.

Clary and the gang are betrayed by their mentor, Hodge, when he lets in Valentine to the Institute. Clary returns back to the institute to help the others and get her mother. She brings the werewolves with her and realizes her power of creating runes. Jace and Clary are of coarse devastated to realize they are brother and sister and Valentine is their father.

Clary wins the battle over Valentine after Jace tries so hard to beat him physically. Her mother is slowly waking up. Clary returns home to repair the damage and uses her power of creating runes to fix the damage in the home. I wonder what happened to Clary and her mother living with Luke in the next book. Oh well.

My thoughts:

As you all know I am an avid reader and love to read the book before the movie comes out. I read this series a little while ago so I do not remember every detail. The movie overall was very well done. I really enjoyed it. They had the appropriate comedic responses and the dynamic between Simon and Jace was spot on.
The action sequences were done well and the vampire fight really made me sit up. I must admit there needed to be a touch of more action before the vampire fight the movie dragged a little but it picked up and set a good pace.

Magnus Bane was perfectly done and makes me a huge fan! The background story of Clary’s mom was done appropriately and showed the past of Valentine. I feel like they changed a few thing such as the location of the end fight, Luke already being an alpha of a pack, and Jace working with Valentine. While major changes, it did not take away from the movie. Although I do miss them going to the local Chinese place.I believe you can enjoy the movie without reading a book. If you enjoy young adult, I would recommend this to you.

My Cult Classic Films

Hi Everyone,

This week I decided to share with you my cult classic films. Basically these films I know beyond belief and able to quote and make it fit appropriately.

A cult film, also commonly referred to as a cult classic, is a film that has acquired a cult following. Cult films are known for their dedicated fanbase, an elaborate subculture that engage in repeated viewings, quoting dialogue, and audience participation. I figured I would give you the definition. I know that I have repeated viewings and quoting dialogue but who knows. These are my cult classics, you do not have to agree okay!

1. Clueless

This movie is a favorite of mine. It is simplistic but fun and it is easy to quote. "Full on Monet". I have this movie in digital form on my phone. I watch it randomly at work to help me focus. Yes, these cult classic movies help me focus on my work. Basically I know the movies so well that they become White Noise that I can quote. While in college, if I needed to write a ten page paper real quick, I would play all of these movies back to back until I was done. It worked every time. This technique kept me on track for my Master's Thesis. Sorry off topic, the movie really brought out Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittney Murphy. Plus I love their shopping.

2. Hackers

Hackers was a fun movie and reinforced my love of the PC world. I was lucky to have a computer at a very young age and I still use my same AOL account since the age of 11. This movie just makes me feel good to see their hacking skills and while I know some stuff, I always wish I was on their level. Plus who didn't love Angelina Jolie and her first hubby in this movie.

3. Lean on Me

This movie stars my favorite actor, Morgan Freeman. I understand I am a little bit young to have him be my favorite actor but just look at his resume and you can see how awesome his record is. I enjoyed this movie even though the story changed a bit from the real story the message was great and who doesn't bust out singing Lean on Me at least once a week......okay maybe that is just me. Also you got to love chanting "Free Mr. Clark!" or "You smoke crack dontcha!" "Go ahead and jump, don't f*ck around with it, do it expeditiously" "That means they can barely read!" and last but not least "There's only one boss around here, that me. The HNIC!" - Okay I will stop with the quotes but understand I just acted out half of the movie. I should have recorded it and posted it to YouTube.... one more! "I don't have to do nothing, but stay Black and die" - Okay I use this one way too much.

4. Empire Records

Okay I know but c'mon you have Renee Zellweger and Liv Tyler in the cast. The movie gives you your typical teen angst and if you ever worked a little part time job after school where all your friends worked as well, then you will completely understand this movie. Dollarland!!!!
The Lucas character is just so much fun. Who didn't have a supervisor named Joe?
"It's Rex Manning Day!"

5. The Five Heartbeats

I know this movie frontwards and backwards! You got Leon and Robert Townsend in the movie. There is a guy named Big Red that has shady dealings and office hours from 9 to 5. A singing group rises up and falls in an epic way. Drugs destroy the lead singer but they come together at the end. "Ya'll wanna hang with ol' Eddie Kane." This movie is just so great. I have the soundtrack in my car! "I can see through your jive ass like glass!"

My favorite part was when poor Eddie Kane tried to sing. It's so heartbreaking but who doesn't sing this part?

Honorable Mentions: Clerks 2, Mall Rats, Teen Witch, and Labyrinth. Also The Players Club - "You gotta use what you got to get what you want" "Make that money, don't let the money make you!" Plus that fight sequence was beyond crazy!

Hey Guys,

So I decided to just do a wrap-up of info from Gamescom. I figured it would be the easiest. This is by no means all of the info coming out of Gamescom but I just wanted to give you guys a snapshot. First thing I must mention that Nintendo seems to have more plans to show out at Pax and just stayed classy at Gamescom. This cannot be said about Sony and Microsoft that took jabs at each other like this was a political race. I was disgusted to see these two companies act like this. They need to keep it professional.

Sony:

This week, Blizzard detailed the updates coming in WoW’s upcoming Patch 5.4: Siege of Orgrimmar, including class changes, currency conversions and much more.In an interview at Gamescom, game director Tom Chilton and lead content designer Cory Stockton explained how the new changes will affect WoW, plus how many more updates Mists of Pandaria players can expect.

Sims producer Ryan Vaughan has been around for almost this entire transformation, having started working at Maxis on The Sims 2 and continued through The Sims 3 and all its various expansions. "Quite frankly I think it’s the best simulator that we’ve created at Maxis, so I’m really excited about that," he says. "This is the first one that we’ve got brand new tech, [which] we’re calling it SmartSim, and it’s allowing us to create the most relatable and the most intelligent Sims game ever." "It creates a cascading set of circumstances for you as a storyteller," says Ryan. "For example, previously if a Sim caught their partner cheating, there’d be a short term mood hit and then the whole thing would effectively be dropped. Now they’d be pushed into a powerful emotional state by that – it might cause depression."

Well guys that's my wrap-up. I will probably do something similar for PAX and Eurogamer Expo. Until then.

Smash Bros. Wii U Speculations

Hey Everyone,

Okay so we have the following characters that have been officially announced Pit, Bowser, Pikachu,

Kirby, Fox, Samus, Link,

Donkey Kong, Mario, Wii Fit Trainer,

Mega Man, Villager, Pikman & Olimar,

and the latest character announced is Luigi.

That is a great line up but small line up so far. There are over 40 past characters so the question is who will be in the newest installment.

I personally would like to see the Ice Climbers make a return. I game with these guys and like to change their outfit to all white. When I win I do a dance and have a chant. #dontjudgeme

I am sure other people would like to see Ganandorf, Zelda/Sheik, as well as Yoshi and Sonic.

I wonder if we will have a couple of other surprise characters. I thought it was interesting that they have Wii Fit Trainer.

It would be cool to see Phoenix Wright but seeing that he was recently in Marvel vs Capcom maybe not. However Mega Man was in that franchise as well so maybe there is a chance.

They could add Darunia. He can have similar movements to Bowser and Donkey Kong since he is a big guy.

I think Rygar would be a great addition. He can throw his diskarmor and have similar flip movements as Samus.

Any characters that you would like to see or believe would be a great addition?
