My Favorite Comic Book Hero: Ghost Rider

Hi Everyone,

So for this week's Vikki's Musings, I will talk about my favorite comic book hero. It is a toss up between Ghost Rider and Storm but I really think the Storm choice is because she was a Black female. Plus I really only bought Ghost Rider comic books anyway so I am going to go with Ghost Rider.

When I was younger my mother would take my brothers and I to a book store in the local farmers' market. All the books were discounted and we were allowed one. I usually picked up an Archie Comic, but every once in a while I would peruse the comics my brother was buying. I noticed a cover with a guy in a leather jacket with a flaming skull. I was immediately attracted to the comic and picked it up. The rest was history.

I must admit I do have a dark sense of humor and enjoy some of the darker things in life. So it is understandable that I would enjoy Ghost Rider. I always loved the concept of seeking Vengeance for those who have been wronged. Probably why I enjoy a lot of my Asian horror movies because plots usually highlight karma coming back to kill people.

Okay so some background info about Ghost rider. The Ghost Rider is a human who can transform into a skeletal superhuman being with a flaming skull and supernatural powers. The motorcycles he rides can travel faster than conventional motorcycles and can perform seemingly impossible feats such as riding up a vertical surface, across the surface of water and leaping across great distances that normal motorcycles could not match. The Ghost Riders are virtually indestructible and notoriously hard to injure by any conventional means, as bullets and knives usually pass through them without causing pain. It is possible that they are genuinely immortal. Despite being composed of bone and hellfire, the Ghost Riders possess formidable superhuman strength, enough to easily pick up a truck and hurl it across a road. Let's not forget about the Penance Stare which causes the individual to feel all the pain they have inflicted on anyone else. This is one of my favorite powers. Could you image what you could do if you had this power?

There were two Ghost Riders, Johnny Blaze first then Danny Ketch. I personally started reading with Danny Ketch as the Ghost Rider. Then the Ghost Rider movies come out and Nicholas Cage was cast as the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider. While I did not enjoy the movies and wished for more, I gave my money and supported the film.

I recently read somewhere that Marvel has the rights back for Ghost Rider as well as Blade. So am I the only one hoping for a Midnight Sons movie? Well maybe Ghost Rider will make an appearance in the new Avengers. If that happens ya'll will hear my scream from anywhere in the world.

So that is my favorite Comic Book Hero. I always thought Ghost Rider was awesome. Am I the only one?

Thank you for enjoy this week's Vikki's Musings.

  1. While not my personal favorite marvel character the Rider is pretty cool. My favorite is also a toss up between Luke Cage, Deadpool, Magik,Wolverine, Gambit, Jubilee, Psylocke, and Warbird. Yeah that's kinda long but what can I say they are my favorites.

  2. If they bring back Danny Ketch and/or the Midnight Sons I'll be screaming with you. Plus, Marvel just gained the rights to Spiderman meaning that Morbius could make an appearance with the Midnight Sons too!
