The Walking Dead Season 4, Ep. 1: “30 Days Without an Accident”

Disclaimer: I read the comics and was a fan of them first. So be prepared for references to the comics and the spoilers they contain.

Important Moments:

Show starts with Rick tending to the earth while the walkers watch on. Daryl is a little uncomfortable by the undying love of his fans. Carol is concerned about the pile up of walkers at the fence. Michonne comes riding in a horse and brings Carl some comics and Rick a razor. Apparently Michonne is on a man hunt for the governor. Hershel continues to teach Rick how to grow.

Rick meets a creepy lady in the woods. She looks more undead than a walker. She asks to be brought back to Rick’s camp. Carl tells the kids not to name the zombies. He tries to tell the kids to be more realistic about the zombies. Rick apparently will ask the lady and her husband three questions. The woman goes on and on about how she has to do things that she never thought she would have to do. If that is not a foreshadow, I am unsure what is.

The runners are out gathering supplies for the camp. One member is tempted by the booze and causes the shelf to fall alerting the walkers on the roof who promptly fall through the roof. The crazy lady apparently keeps her dead husband and then kills herself to become a walker like him.

Rick's three questions:
How many walkers have you killed?
How many people have you killed?
Why?

Maggie and Glenn's pregnancy scare. Daryl has to tell Beth that her boyfriend is dead. She is keeping an accident free workplace count and just took the number down to zero.

The really sick kid is stumbling and needs a shower to cool off and falls out. He wakes up as a zombie.

My Thoughts:

Carl is looking more grown. Tyrese does not like killing on the fence, apparently he used it as a way to get close to a lady. That is the Tyrese I know and love! Looks like everyone is in love! Ya know this is going to go bad.

I respect Kirkman and his ability to rip the rug out from under the characters. I look forward to the implementation of Abraham to the cast. He was fantastic at this year’s comic con and will add an extra layer to the show.

See alcohol is bad for you! It will get you killed by zombies. I liked that the zombies come through the roof, it is a different approach and translates well. It makes it harder to defend against zombies when they are raining down on you. It was sad to see the one guy die because of the idiot's need for a drink.

Looks like the water is killing them slowly, first the pig and now them. I wonder when they will figure out that the water is bad. It should be interesting to see the prison deal with the infection from the inside. Well, until next week.
