Graphic Tees: Black Action Tees

Hello Everyone,

I had the chance to interview with an awesome graphic tee company. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Black Action Tees at NY Comic Con. He has great designs that are creative. Check out the interview as the owner has a lot of great messages behind his brand. Oh, I also have the Hillman College Tee and it was a huge hit at Thanksgiving with my family. Who doesn't want a Hillman College tee.

Tell me a little bit about your company and the founders?
Founded in 2011 by myself "Bigtime", when I  went looking for a tee of my childhood hero Black Vulcan, and to my dismay, could not find one.

What made you decide to get into your field?
Black Superheroes are rarely seen if ever. Someone needs to show the Black youth positive images of themselves; even a fictionalized version.

What is the vision of your company? What do you hope to achieve?
Hope to broaden the reception and appeal of Black Superheroes in the mainstream. Our motto is "Representing for the Underrepresented"

What is your favorite design? Why?
Black Vulcan. He was the first hero that was really down with the main heroes; Superman, Batman, etc, on the cartoon The Superfriends back in the 70's. I was 7, and not even sure I knew I was Black at that point, but after I saw him for the first time, I knew we were the same and remember having immense self worth. I too could be a superhero!!

What is your hope for the future of your company?
Hope to broaden the reception and appeal of Black Superheroes in the mainstream

What do you think about the rise of popularity of graphic tees? Where do you see the field going?
Tied to geek culture forever. Being a geek myself, the tee represents a state of mind one wants to portray. Everyone is an individual, now more than ever. There will be t-shirts until the end of time. I hope in America  the trend is toward bringing printing back  to the US. Black Action Tees prints 100% of our shirts here in America. No China production or sweatshop labor.  "Keep your neighbor working" we say.
