Mortal Kombat X is the game that Xbox One fans have been waiting for especially since there are a limited # of games on the system and none that can rival the game play or graphics. Blood, Guts & Glory pretty much sums up this review of the best game on X Box One to date yet I am still holding out for a Marvel vs Capcom 4 or another rendition of Gears of War which are console favorites but I digress. The age progression of mainstay characters is as refreshing as their new characters and faction changes with off course guest characters. Who would have thought Sonja Blade would have become a General and procreated with Johnny Cage to produce Cassie Cagie or that Liu Kang, Earth Realms Champion would become damn near a replacement for Scorpio with other heroes under dark influence, Mortal Kombat’s storyline and content never ceases to amaze me since its conception in 1992 by the now bankrupt Midway for arcade game play which has spawned merchandise, tours comics, movies, tv-series and web series both animated and live-action.

Fun Knowledge: When you first start playing you have to choose to be part of a faction. There are ongoing Faction Wars and if your faction wins that challenge for the time you will get a bonus. The storymode has you playing as various characters after a cut screen occurs. FYI pay attention to the cut screen. Do not look at your phone while it is happening. It is interactive and you will be required to push certain buttons. Same goes in the krypt! Yes, there are things that will attack you, so be prepared. Typical tower climb is there so do not worry. Overall a bloody game so be prepared. They really paid attention to details with this game and you will get to enjoy it!

The series takes place in a fictional universe consisting of eighteen surviving realms which, according to in-game backstories, were created by the Elder Gods. The Mortal Kombat: Deception manual described the six realms as: "Earthrealm, home to such legendary heroes as Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Jax, and also under the protection of the Thunder God Raiden; Netherrealm, the fiery depths of which are inhospitable to all but the most vile, a realm of demons and shadowy warriors such as Quan Chi and Noob Saibot; Outworld, a realm of constant strife which Emperor Shao Kahn claims as his own; Seido, The Realm of Order, whose inhabitants prize structure and order above all else; The Realm of Chaos, whose inhabitants do not abide by any rules whatsoever, and where constant turmoil and change are worshipped; and Edenia, which is known for its beauty, artistic expression, and the longevity of its inhabitants."The Elder Gods decreed that the denizens of one realm could only conquer another realm by defeating the defending realm's greatest warriors in ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments.

Mortal Kombat X sees Shinnok and Quan Chi enacting their plan, leading an army of undead revenants of those that were killed in Shao Kahn's invasion against the realms. A team of warriors led by Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade oppose Shinnok, and in the ensuing battle, Shinnok is imprisoned, Quan Chi escapes, and various warriors are resurrected and freed from Shinnok's thrall. Twenty-five years later, Quan Chi resurfaces and allies himself with the insect-like D'Vorah in manipulating events that lead to Shinnok's release. Though Quan Chi is killed by a vengeful Scorpion in the process, Shinnok resumes his assault against the realms. After a grueling, protracted battle, Shinnok is defeated by an alliance between a new generation of Earthrealm warriors and Kotal Kahn, the new emperor of Outworld. With both Quan Chi and Shinnok gone, the undead revenants of Liu Kang and Kitana assume control of the Netherrealm.
