Movie Review: Creed

IMDB Storyline: Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) is the son of the famous boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died in a boxing match in Rocky IV (1985). Adonis wasn't born until after his father's death and wants to follow his fathers footsteps in boxing. He seeks a mentor who is the former heavyweight boxing champion and former friend of Apollo Creed, the retired Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). Rocky eventually agrees to mentor Adonis. With Rocky's help they hope to get a title job to face even deadlier opponents than his father. But whether he is a true fighter remains to be seen

Fangirl Thoughts: This movie was so good. I recommend it for any Rocky fans. Ladies, you can also enjoy this movie so do not feel shy. The movie has all the typical Rocky moments. The boxer is on a high, starts to work out more, something traumatic happens, they fall but get back up, loud inspirational music occurs, then the major fight. There is a love interest like always which does not take away from the story but does not move it along much. I did enjoy watching Donnie help out his girlfriend with her hair. (Fellas you know you have done this before).

The movie is primarily based in Philly and as someone from the area I think they were a bit much with the Philly-themed things. The use of the word "jawn" was too heavy. It did not feel believable and became annoying quickly. Also the whole "philly girl" eating cheesesteaks aspect is not true of all Philly girls, but I digress.
What made the movie so great was the relationship between Donnie and Rocky. The bond comes through easily. You hope for the best for Donnie and you enjoy watching Rocky guide him like Apollo guided Rocky. While there is no frolicking on the beach in short shorts, there is that great moment with music that fills you with courage.

Check this movie out and let me know what you think!

S/N: The stache on Donnie so he can look like Apollo was not necessary and was a bit weird.
