Movie Review: Divergent Series: Allegiant

Storyline: The third installment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris [Shailene Woodley] and Four [Theo James] into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before. After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.

Fangirl Thoughts: The movie Allegiant is visually stunning. The world outside of the Chicago Experiment is amazing and you really see how the world has ruined itself and is rebuilding. The movie does a great job in showing how the relationship between Four and Tris has evolved. I have enjoyed watching these two on the screen. The movie overall is good as the actors are great at fighting and coming together to defeat the next big bad.

You get to enjoy watching Caleb come into his own. Christina is awesome and Peter does what he does best. One of my issues is that you miss the connection of how some divergents were smuggled out of Chicago previously which truly adds to the story line.

My problem with the movie is that it does not give the hard hitting ending that the book did. Everything does not end up happy in the book. Spoiler: Tris sacrifices her life to stop the release of the gas. While the last book was very annoying to read at least the author was willing to take the risk in killing the main character. The movie could have done the same. I lost respect for the series because they were not willing to do that.

Overall check the movie out and let me know your thoughts.
