Review: 13 Reasons Why

IMDB Storyline: Thirteen Reasons Why, based on the best-selling books by Jay Asher, follows teenager Clay Jensen 9Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers a group of cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), his classmate and crush who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah unfolds an emotional audio diary, detailing the thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Through Hannah and Clay’s dual narratives, Thirteen Reasons Why weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect viewers.

Fangirl Thoughts: This is a must watch Netflix series. This show will make you question all the crap you did in high school. The viciousness of teenagers is well known but to have it displayed so thoroughly was interesting to see. As a viewer you cannot help but to think back on if you were bullied, the bully, the outsider, etc. We all played our roles in high school and as an adult to watch this show you look back and recognize exactly what role you might have played.

As you watch the show you cannot help but to scream at Clay to hurry up and play all the tapes so you can hear his and hear how it all ended. I enjoyed listening to Hannah explain her feelings and it was a shame to see a light like her just destroyed from people being selfish and careless.

There were so many questions left unanswered and while I will understand if they end it there, I want to know what happens to all the characters.

Binge worthy score - 9.8 out of 10. This show will have you thinking about it for quite some time after.

What did you think?
