Gamer Corner: Keith

Hey Everyone, 

Welcome to this week's installment of gamer corner. Please meet Keith.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I'm 26, recently married and I'm a gamer.  I've been gaming since I can remember. I started with the NES, but when I got it the world moved on to the SNES. I eventually got a Genesis and was introduced to Sonic.

2. What system do you currently game on?

I have a PS3 and recently just sold my Wii. I'm going to include Android, more specifically Google Play Games. If you don't know anything about it you should check it out because Google is doing something very special.

3. What game is currently in your system right now?

Tomb Raider is in my system but I'm currently playing Riptide 2, Wind Up Knight, and Osmos HD on my android phone.

4. Do you enjoy that game, why? How’s the overall game play?

I really enjoyed Tomb Raider after a very slow start. The gameplay was definitely better than the story. Osmos HD is a very relaxing game, Wind Up Knight is a clever side scroller, and Riptide 2 is simply fun. Great graphics for mobile devices.

5. Would you recommend it?

Absolutely, but I would also recommend The Last of Us.

6. Are there any games coming out that you are looking forward to?

Yes, GTA V, Beyond Two Souls, and Watch Dogs on the PS3.

7. What kind of gamer do you classify yourself to be? ie. Hardcore, RPG gamer, etc.

I'm just a gamer. Give me great gameplay and story and I'm good.

8. So with the new consoles coming out, which way are you leaning One or 4?

I'm leaning towards the PS4 only because there are more exclusives that I'm already invested in. I still plan on getting a Wii U too because Nintendo has my heart. Its not looking too good for the Wii U but I'm confident they can turn it around.

9. Favorite Video Game of all time and why? 

That's a very hard question. If I have to choose I will go with Super Mario.....Galaxy. I'm having a hard time between this and Super Mario World.

10.Would you like to share your gamer tag and the system so others may add you?

Phoenix Wright Movie Review

Phoenix Wright Movie: 

Amazon Story line: With the storyline based primarily on the first game in the Ace Attorney series (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney), the series' signature style is combined with a courtroom drama. Rookie defense attorney Phoenix Wright (Hiroki Narimiya) strives to protect his clients in various murder trials, including the death of his mentor, Mia Fey (Rei Dan) and the accusation of rival prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth (Takumi Saito). Wright's greatest ally is Mia's younger sister Maya Fey (Mirei Kiritani), a spirit medium whose body is possessed by Mia to communicate with him. Wright is later given the task of solving the DL-6 case, a murder that has not been solved for 15 years. The movie premiered in February 2012 in Japan.

My Thoughts: I finally got my hands on a copy of an English substitles of the Phoenix Wright movie. The movie is over two hours long which allowed for the development of the story lines appropriately. The movie follows the first video game exactly. The anime hair while surprising at first actually seems to fit into the world. The movie brought the concept of the attorney vs attorney to life.

It was interesting to see the hologram boards being pulled down to present information and even thrown at the opposing counsel to further support an objection. I believe what made this one of the best video game movie adaptions is that the story line was so compelling that after a while I forgot that it was a video game movie and I felt like it was an extended episode of Law & Order.

The characters looked exactly like the video game characters which further added to the feeling of being immersed into the world of Phoenix Wright.

I enjoyed seeing Detective Gumshoe (Shunsuke Diato) and Larry Butz (Akiyoshi Nakao). Larry was wearing the loud orange-yellow jacket and trying to sell the ridiculous clock and Gumshoe had the appropriate Band-Aid on his face.

The judge (Akira Emoto) with the beard was beyond authentic.

The background story of Miles, Phoenix, and Larry knowing each other provided a nice depth to the movie. Seeing them as kids with the crazy hair was nice to see.

The movie flowed well from beginning to end. Frankly they should make the other video games in the same style. It was nice to see Wright sweating when he realizes he is losing until Maya helps him with the aid of Mia. It was amazing to see.

I would recommend this movie for those who enjoy the video game series. I heard there have been mixed reviews but maybe you should sit down with The Thinker clock and ask for his assistance.

Teen Wolf Season 3 Summer Finale

Teen Wolf Season 3 ep 12 “Lunar Eclipse” 

All three wake up in an all white room. Stiles, Allison, and Scott look like they are in the Matrix or something. The walk up to the stump of the Nemeton tree which is the only thing in the room.

Flashback to Scott and Derek with the tattoo. Scott looks at the rings on the tree and touches it. Scott is now in the woods going back to the first episode he sees himself finding the body and rolling down the hill. This is a nice touch to be honest. Scott watches himself be bit and steps back and realizes that he is standing on the Nemeton tree. 

Now there is Stiles seeing himself in the first episode in the woods where his dad finds him and he steps back and stumbles on the Nemeton tree. Next you have Allison with her mother almost hit Scott. The mother turns around and Allison gets out the car and follows the tracks. She finds Scott’s inhaler. Allison sees the tree. 

Real World time. They all come out of the water and claim they know where it is. Isaac lets them know they were in the water for 16 hours and are informed that the full moon rises in less than 4 hours. 

Cora is healed and helping Derek recover. Peter is letting them know that the moon is rising. 

Scott says he made a deal and needs to go back to Ducalean. They need the Alpha pack to beat Jennifer. 

Twin Wolf shows up looking for Lydia. He asks for help to stop his brother and wolf chick from killing Derek. 

Guardians are tied up and talking about how they may die. 

Twin wolf tells Derek that they are coming for him. Peter tells him to run. Cora tells him to fight for something worth it. Peter mentions how if he is going to die then Lydia would know. Lydia says she feels like she is standing in a graveyard. 

Argent house. Scott, Allison, and Isaac finds Mr. McCall at the house with the guns. 

Twin Wolf and Lydia are there when the bad guys show up. Lydia gives attitude and other Twin Wolf will not let She-Wolf hurt Lydia. In drops Jennifer from the ceiling in a bad-ass entrance! 

Fight Sequence. The wolves are fighting Jennifer and the Twins try to Unit and Jennifer pulls them apart. Jennifer and Kali have a moment. Jennifer is talking to her about how she has to use power to look normal. She then uses her power to lift shards off the ground and throws them into Kali. I almost feel sad for her death. Jennifer turns to Lydia but the twins have united and are ready to attack Jennifer. She pulls a spin move and breaks their combined neck. Lydia is left standing. Jennifer makes Lydia do her Banshee scream and Derek decides to go back because of it. The Twins detach and they are alive.

Allison says the FBI can’t hold them and says her dad is licensed for all the weapons. She pulls the smoke grenade and they run. Stiles is on the road and hits a tree when he cannot see. 

Derek and Jennifer talks about how Jennifer did not kill for them but for her own selfish reasons. Jennifer says she needs Derek’s help to take out Ducalean and the parents will live. 

Allison and Isaac find the tree and the trapdoor. They find the parents but there ground starts to come down. They are trapped. Isaac stands up to basically hold up the ceiling.

Scott sends Jennifer a message to find them at the warehouse. 

Vet guy says the Twins can be saved if they start healing on their own. Vet injects them with something. 

Derek and Jennifer show up the warehouse. Derek says he is there to help Scott. Ducalean talks trash as he transforms and looks more demon like than a werewolf. Derek faces Ducalean and Jennifer is powerless against him. He backhands Jennifer and Scott sees that they are down and out.

 Ducalean commands Scott to kill her. Scott stands up and says his pack will save the guardians. Ducalean grabs Scott and Scott throws down the Argent sparklers and blinds them. The eclipse has started and Jennifer is gone. All wolves are humans again. 

Stiles rushes in and uses the bat to support the beam. 

From out of the mist come Jennifer all scarred up in a hot outfit. She bashes Ducalean’s head into the ground. Derek points out that Ducalean has never seen her face. Jennifer heals his eyes and Ducalean looks at Jennifer. Derek says he will not kill him because he will not be a killer and tells Jennifer to let them go. Jennifer is trying to kill Derek and replays seeing him take the beating from his pack which delays Jennifer and allows the 15 minutes to end. Remember Jennifer never killed the guardians so she is not at super strength.

Jennifer throws up the powder to cause a circle to protect herself. Scott attempts to push his way through and is all glowy blue and his eyes turn red. He cross the line and destroys the circle. Scott says he can do it because he is an Alpha now. He tells her to stop and Ducalean comes and slashes Jennifer’s throat. 

The twins are alive. Scott calls Stiles and says everyone is okay. Derek lets Ducalean go and tell him they will come after him if need be. 

Allison and her dad talk. Allison wants to be trained and says there will be anew code. Says it in French, “Protect those who cannot protect themselves.”

Derek leaves town. Scott is doing a voice-over. Mr. McCall is sticking around and Scott says he is not welcome. Scott says he can feel the darkness. 

He is at school and sees his friends. Lydia with the Twin, other Twin with his Danny, Isaac and Allison (not cool!). Stiles walks up to him and they walk the halls. Vet asks about Jennifer and says the body was gone when they returned to the warehouse. 

Jennifer has crawled to the Nemeton tree. She is pulled back by a hand and says of coarse its you. Peter pulled her back and Jennifer says he will steal the Alpha from Scott. Apparently Peter is still an Alpha. 

My Thoughts: I still think we need to learn more about Lydia’s Banshee powers. I wonder if there is more to her parents? 

Peter is still an Alpha? Hmmmm….maybe when Derek lost his Alpha power it had to go to the next Hale maybe. Maybe there has to be a Hale Alpha since they are born a werewolf and not a bitten werewolf. I wonder how much he has been masterminding from the background. We know he set Derek up to be a killer and have blue eyes but what else has he done? 

I felt bad about Jennifer dying. 

The flashbacks were awesome. I thought it was cool how they were at the tree and did not realize it. 

Still think Derek’s mother is alive and will probably come back to take out Peter. I think Ducalean is gone for now.

I am very much anti Isaac and Allison. This is such a breach of guy code that there are no words. 

Is it just me but I feel like Mr. McCall has a lot more going on with him then what has been known. I wonder how accepting he will be of the supernatural aspect. 

I still feel like the Blue eyes thing was used to explain Jackson’s eyes. 

The Alpha twins are an Alpha I wonder if they would want their own pack. Are they still Alphas after being almost killed. Can they still combine without Ducalean’s influence? 

It should be interested to see Scott stand tall as an Alpha now. 

Winter Premiere on June 6th 2014. 24 episode season! We still have the other half to go!

Villain Steel Cage Match: Who will win?

Steel Cage Match of Video Game Villains 

A Steel Cage match is a wrestling match type where two or more opponents must escape a steel cage to become the victor, though sometimes the rules are bent where they may also win via pin or submission as well. In this instance it is by leaving the cage only! I guess this cage can be made out of something indestructible to ensure the cage does not melt. 

Okay so I decided for this week’s musings I will have a cage match between a few classic video game villains. 

And in this corner we have Ganandorf Dragmire. Leader of the Gerudo. 

Strengths: Ambitions, Cunning Manipulator, Skilled Swordsman, Formidable Sorcerer and ability to shape shift. Incredibly agile and with Triforce Power he gains incredible strength and teleportation. 

Weakness: Incredibly arrogant, Susceptible to sacred weapons and having own magic used against him. 

And in this corner we have Bowser Koopa aka King Koopa. Leader of the Koopa race. 

Strengths: Spiked Turtle Shell, Razor-sharp teeth, Breathes fire, has skills in Black Magic, Super strength and ability to Jump high. 

Weakness: Cumbersome and lacks agility. Susceptible to Lava. 

And in this corner we have Albert Wesker.

Strengths: Knowledgeable and cunning, skilled Marital artist and gunman. Superhuman strength, speed, agility, and regeneration from injection of T-virus (Progenitor Virus). 

Weakness: Power-hungry, need for steady injection of serum and the risk of overdosing

And in the last corner Shang Tsung, cursed by the gods to steal souls to stop from rapidly aging. First Mortal Kombat champion. 

Strengths: Sorcerer, Shapeshifter, Extreme knowledge from absorption of souls. Attacks are mainly fire based and teleportation 

Weakness: Does not block and takes on character’s weakness when morphed.

These are the four villains I have chosen to enter the match. I have listed their strengths and weaknesses. 

I believe that the more agile characters will work together to take out Bowser first. Bowser’s spiked shell will be a great asset when he starts to do his spinning jumping around attack. Once he is taken out now the real battle begins. If he was allowed to stay he could become gigantic Bowser and almost stomp and breathe fire on his opponents and the match would be over too quickly. 

I believe Wesker and Ganondorf will come together and take out Shang Tsung. His ability to shape shift into other characters will leave them at a huge disadvantage. 

Okay so now we have Wesker and Ganondorf left standing. The true match begins. 

Wesker has his super speed and Ganondorf has his skilled swordsman ability. The are both equally agile. I think they would test each other’s abilities by feigning attacks and trying to pick up tells in their fighting styles. 

I believe that in Ganondorf’s arrogance he may shape shift thinking this will provide him an advantage but leaves him susceptible to an attack to Wesker leaving him hurt. I believe this will be the turning of match. 

At this point Wesker will use every attack possible to destroy Ganondorf. Ganondorf will be down on the ground and as Wesker delivers his final blow Ganondorf is able to pick up his sword and slice Wesker’s head off. 

Match over Ganondorf is the winner and exits the cage.

True Blood Season 6 Finale "Stay Calm Eric is not Dead"

True Blood Season 6 ep 10 “Radioactive” Recap

Starts with Sookie right after the funeral. Alcide is still there and she says she would like him to join her on a walk. Wait…she is holding her heels. 

She is walking around a graveyard barefoot. Ewww!!!!! Alcide smells vampires. They find the escapees playing at Bill’s Mansion. There goes Sookie rushing into danger yet again.

Violet is extra possessive of Jason. She plants a big one on Sookie. Sookie is a little too calm about Jason with that Violet chick. Pam runs up and hugs Sookie as well as Tara. 

Bill is inside watching from the house and seems sad and heartbroken.

Sookie goes and visits Warlow and he has decorated Fairyland. Sookie says she will keep her promise but she wants time and for him to date her. He slaps her and is choking her.

Vamp funland. Violet is a little jealous of Jessica and hits her with a volleyball. Pam tells Tara she will be going after Eric. Pam leaves Tara and tells hre to take care of Willa. Bill  no longer has his special powers of Lillith. Bill admits that he traded Sookie for Warlow’s blood. Bill is all mopey and mournful. Jessica gives him a speech about how he needs to save Sookie. Jason is yelling at Bill and needs to save Sookie. Bill has the scientist walking through the woods. Bill makes him forget all that he has been through and lets him go.

Jason begs for Adeline’s help. Andy reluctantly agrees to help. They arm up and are ready to go into fairyland.

Warlow has Sookie tied up. Sookie threatens to make herself human again. Warlow ties her hands and feeds on her.

Bill is there to help with Operation Save Sookie. Bill talks Adeline into using her light. They enter the land and Bill is fighting Warlow. They gang exits leaving Bill. Bill and Warlow exit fairyland. Violet is healing Sookie.

 Bill cannot get into the house. Warlow is in the house and is looking for Sookie. He finds in her in the bathroom. Niall comes from the other land and Jason is able to stake Warlow. After Warlow is dead all vamps lose their sun immunity.

Eric is in the sun and begins to burn.

6 Months Later. News cast about Hep V. Bill is on the show to talk about the virus. Sookie is on her couch watching Bill on television. Alcide is there with his hair cut and appears there is a relationship going on there. At Jason’s house, he is having some fun with Violet but still has not had sex.

Everyone is going to the church. You see Alcide and Sookie walking in. Everyone is at the church to get a blood test to see if they are carriers. Minister preaches togetherness and the vampires are apparently sick and roaming around to hurt humans. Sam is Mayor of Bon Temps. He says there is a plan at Bellefleur Bar and Grill where there will be good food and music for free. He asks them to agree to a monogamous feeding relationship with a vampire in order to ensure safety for both human and vampire.

Vampires and humans are mixing it up and setting up the relationship. Willa and Tara are scoping out the humans. Tara’s mom would like to talk with her. Tara’s mother wants to apologize for Tara’s whole life. Tara’s mom wants to feed her and take and care of her. This is a little weird for me.

Andy and Adeline are sitting at home. Jessica shows up at Andy’s house. Andy pulls a gun on her. Jessica offers protection and does not want anyone’s blood. Andy does not shoot her and closes the door. Jessica stands outside and protects the house.

Alcide and Sookie are leaving. Bill is there and asks for a moment alone. Alcide says that Bill can speak with him there. Bill says Sookie needs a vampire. Bill offers his protection and Sookie refuses. Alcide and Bill smell sick vampires. There is a horde of sick vampires walking up on the group of partiers.

End.

My thoughts:

Okay so they brought Alcide back from the pack mindset. He was really becoming a jerk so at least now he is less jerky. Bill is trying to get back into Sookie’s good graces. At least this is like the book. Bill begging for forgiveness and remaining untrustworthy.  I do not believe Eric is dead, if he was Willa would feel it. Seeing that she is as happy as can be then he is not dead.

The Hep V concept follows the Sino-Aids virus that is in the book so that’s good. If a vampire fights another vampire and gets their blood in them will they then be sick as well?

 I wonder if Quinn the tiger will make an appearance along with Victor and Felipe.  

I heard rumors that Eric was leaving the show. Maybe there is some truth to that rumor.

I guess we will see what next season has to hold.
