The Fantastic Four 2015

Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing aka Marvel’s first family fantastically arrive into theaters on 8.7.15.(here hoping the movie will be better than this intro)

Whatever you think you know or knew about this familiar group of heroes, “FORGET ABOUT IT”(insert movie reference here). A new origin story has been developed by FOX to wash out the after taste of the last 2 incarnations or should I say abominations; Fantastic Four & Fanstastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer. I mean seriously beating a supervillian like Dr. Doom, with a fire hydrant in the first movie was awful! The 1994 cartoon had more in depth battles. The actor who played Dr. Doom; Julian McMahon had better supernatural brawls as Cole Turner aka Belthazor on the series Charmed with 3 witches and a network television budget. Then in the sequel, the Silver Surfer defeats one of the most powerful beings in the universe; Galactus with his own power. (but I digress)

                                       The first FF movie attempt

Lets not soon forget the Cheesy unreleased 1994 film, executively produced by Roger Corman and Bernd Eichinger who went on to produced the 2005 adaptation. (No, i’m not making this up but I wish I was.)

You know it's bad when The Human Torch douses his flames for “stars and stripes” (Marvel Vs Capcom reference… check) as Captain America, which proved to be a run away hit (arguably the second time around) with a highly anticipated “triquel “ (not a real word who cares, this blog says IT IS and we coined it first)

As per IMBD: Four young scientists achieve superhuman abilities through a teleportation experiment gone haywire. They must now use these abilities to save the world from an uprising tyrant.

Wikipedia states the following: When four people teleport to an alternate universe, which alters their physical form and grants them new abilities, they must learn to harness their abilities and work together as a team to save the Earth from a familiar enemy.

My Thoughts

After we get closer to release more photos and details should become available. Although the teaser is not revealing much I an interested in seeing how FOX plans to salvage this franchise especially with the Human Torch being played by actor Michael B. Jordan, a fan favorite from the movie Chronicle among other work he has done. Reboots if done correctly can inspire a new cult following of Geeks. Look at the Chris Nolan Batman Trilogy especially with the iconic/critically acclaimed Joker performance portrayed by the late Heath Ledger which earned a posthumous Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (arguably he should have won for Best Actor as he MADE the movie a success and a classic) The same could be said for Man of Steel reboot which Chris Nolan also had a hand in. (Superman Returns was not mentioned as it does not deserve any recognition whatsoever, I am still waiting for my refund)

I recommended we give this movie a try (Geeks Unite), I know “ Fool us once…” which Fox did not once but twice. Nonetheless I am ready to let bygones be bygones and embark on a new journey with a new cast and new origin story.

As always Geeks & Geek Lovers, Please post your comments below.

FLAME OFF,

Mack Nichols
