DARK HORSE COMICS SETS DATE FOR WORLD OF WARCRAFT®: CHRONICLE VOLUME 1!

Dark Horse Comics and Blizzard Entertainment have set a release date for the first in a multivolume series detailing the history of the Warcraft® universe: World of Warcraft®: Chronicle Volume 1.

On March 15, World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 will hit shelves, taking readers on a journey through an age of myth and legend long before the Horde and the Alliance came to be. This definitive tome of Warcraft lore reveals untold stories about the birth of the cosmos, the rise of ancient empires, and the forces that shaped the world of Azeroth and its people.

“World of Warcraft: Chronicle is the first in a series of books that attempts to codify, tighten up, and clarify the history of Warcraft,” said Chris Metzen, Blizzard Entertainment senior vice president of story and franchise development. “People often ask why lore is important. The lore, the storytelling of Warcraft is something that we’ve really tried to work on and hone over the years as an integral part of the fantasy you’re playing through. When it catches you, it’s something you want to keep coming back to over and over.”

This beautiful hardcover book features over twenty full-page illustrations by World of Warcraft artist Peter Lee and is the first in a multipart series exploring the Warcraft universe, from its distant past to the current era.Volume 1 covers the creation of the Warcraft universe up to the story of the original Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.

MOON AND BÁ ADAPT NEIL GAIMAN’S “HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES”

In June 2016, Dark Horse Books will be pleased to offer How to Talk to Girls at Parties, a brilliant new graphic novel adaptation of an award-winning short story from Neil Gaiman—one of the most celebrated authors of our time—by award-winning artists Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá.

Originally published in Neil Gaiman’s Fragile Things: Short Fiction and Wonders, “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” quickly became a celebrated work, receiving a nomination for a 2007 Hugo Award for Best Short Story and winning the Locus Award for Best Short Story the same year.

Now Moon and Bá are set to adapt the Gaiman story they were born to draw in a sumptuous graphic novel that is not to be missed.

“They have a storytelling aesthetic where [depicting] body language is everything. The story is all about what’s in the narrators’ heads, so it can be very hard to do that in comics. It’s incredibly enjoyable to write a story and see them make it real,” said Neil Gaiman in an exclusive interview with Publishers Weekly.

Childhood Ruined: The Little Mermaid Remake

Anyone that knows me, knows that The Little Mermaid is my all-time favorite Disney Movie. When it was released on DVD, my best friend and I had a viewing party with just the two of us and were wearing Little Mermaid accessories that were cheap and plastic but awesome! This movie has some of the best Disney songs that I do know by heart. With that in mind I was heartbroken to hear that they plan on making a live-action movie. The movie industry is now only doing movies on books, comics, remakes, prequels, and sequels. I am here to say that some movies do not need a remake or made into live-action. I know some of you are confused as I often advocate for live-action movies but in this regard I must say no. Making Little Mermaid into live-action is equivalent to making The Lion King into live-action and having The Rock star as Simba. I can deal with The Jungle Book remake even if it seems creepy as hell.

At this time Rebecca Thomas is the current director for the new film. She is known for Electrick children. (Yes you are making the same face as I am and I am just going to leave it alone) Chloe Grace Moretz is set to star in the film that will be released in 2017. While I love Chloe and think she is absolutely adorable, I still cannot get behind this movie. I think this movie might actually make me madder than Meghan Fox as April O’Neill. I think the only way I can get behind this is if the director takes a Maleficent type approach. In other words retell the story in a different way. Hell, make me like Ursula, just do not make it the same damn movie! Okay my rant is done.

VERTIGO TO RELEASE SECOND CHAPTER IN LEE BERMEJO’S ACCLAIMED SUICIDERS SERIES

Vertigo announced SUICIDERS: KINGS OF HELL.A., the second chapter in Lee Bermejo's SUICIDERS story. Vertigo's SUICIDERS series makes its triumphant return with the release of a second chapter, SUICIDERS: KINGS OF HELL.A., due out in March. This six-issue miniseries will continue to be written by creator Lee Bermejo (SUICIDERS, WE ARE ROBIN) and joining him on art is Alessandro Vitti (RED LANTERNS) whose kinetic style perfectly fits SUICIDERS’ brutal landscape, colors by Jordan Boyd (INVISIBLE REPUBLIC).

A whole generation has grown up since the Great Quake, and people like Trix and her brother Johnny don’t know what life was like before New Angeles crumbled. Suffice to say, they’ve learned how to make the most of living inside the collapsed city, and particularly within their ’hood. Johnny is the leader of the Kings of HelL.A., a street gang ready to protect its turf against any and all comers—though Johnny may have taken things too far when he crossed Leonard, a former Suicider known as the Coyote. Things are about to get a whole lot more violent. Meanwhile, Trix is finding love in the arms of Johnny’s best friend, and their star-crossed romance is going to bring trouble of an entirely different kind.

"I couldn't be more excited to take people back into the world of SUICIDERS," says writer/creator Lee Bermejo. "The second arc takes place 15 years before the first storyline, closer towards the moment of the earthquake, and delves into the wall being built and how the people of an already broken city deal with the powers that be trying to split what's left into two. SPREAD KICKS OFF NEW STORY ARC

Issue #12 is a standalone issue, featuring art by Jen Hickman

Writer Justin Jordan (LUTHER STRODE) and special guest artist Jen Hickman (The Dead) will launch a special stand-alone issue in the ongoing horror series SPREAD this January. Previously in SPREAD, a man named No found an orphaned baby named Hope. Hope is the key to stopping The Spread—the gruesome cancerous growth of monsters that’s brought civilization to a grinding halt—but not everyone sees her as a savior. The key to keeping Hope alive has been Molly, a crazy survivor with an unknown background.

In SPREAD #12, Molly’s story is told.

“The world of Spread is a bad one, and Molly's story reflects this,” said Jordan. “This was probably one of the hardest scripts I ever wrote, and I really hope I did justice to the story.” “When Justin sent me the script for the issue, he noted that this one was ‘fairly brutal’ and that made me pause. If Justin Jordan, of all people, wanted to preface a script like that, what exactly was lurking in the pages?” said Hickman. “I mean you'll have to read for yourself, but he was spot on. This issue cuts deep. I was like 3/4 through the issue and about 30 seconds from crying. I hope that I've succeeded in imparting even a fraction of the ‘fairly brutal’ emotion in the script. Basically, I hope you cry. Read Spread. It's super awesome.”
