SDCC 2013 pt 2

Hey Everyone, 

I was lucky to have another insider at this years SDCC. My friend from elementary school, Diandra, attended this year and shared some great info. 

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I'm 31 years old. I'm a New Jersey native who just moved to San Diego because my husband got a new job. I'm a special education teacher looking for a job. I love my family, my dogs, music, movies, TV, meditation and yoga. I like hiking and bicycling with my husband and there's so many places here in SD! My dreams are to surf, be able to play a full round of golf and do it well and maybe learn to play the drums. 

2. Why did you decide to go to this years Comic Con?

I decided to go to this year's Comic Con because we live in San Diego and I've heard how fun it was for years. We were lucky enough to be invited by an HBO talent relations executive because my husband used to work for HBO. 

3. Were there any panels you were looking forward to in particular? Did you take part in any particular activity? Were there any exclusives you were looking forward to and how crowded was it?

We went on a whim so I didn't do any research as to what panels were going on the day we were there. The panel lines were insane and I don't think there's anything I would've waited for. However we did go to a panel for a show on Cinemax called Strike Back because they're a part of HBO and we were invited. It was very cool! There was a moderator who worked for TV Guide leading the panel and they allowed the audience to ask questions. We walked through a panel that was insanely packed and there was a big TV screen showing the people. Turned out it was for the Avengers and we saw Samuel L. Jackson on the screen. 

4. Did you meet any celebrities?

I wouldn't say I "met' her but I got a picture with Adrienne Curry. She was on Next Top model and Surreal Life and ended up marrying the guy who played Peter Brady. She's a proud video game nerd and goes to CC every year dressed scantily clad. From the picture you can see how seriously she takes it. I wanted to find her and I got lucky because my husband spotted her and then I ran over and asked her for a picture. 

5. Anything else that you enjoyed about Comic Con?

People watching at CC was phenomenal. Unfortunately my phone died and I didn't get nearly as many pics as I would've if it were my choice. 

6. Anything else you would like to share? Have you been to any other “Cons” and planning to go to more this year?

It was an amazing experience and so much fun! I've never been to one before and would love to go back next year!!

SDCC 2013

Hey Everyone, 

I was very lucky to have an old high school friend, who was able to attend SDCC 2013. Here is my interview below with Tara. 

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I’m a 30 year old and a mother of 3. I take my kids with me to conventions and we cosplay at most cons. We make most of our costumes and props.

2. Why did you decide to go to this years Comic Con?

Last minute I was able to get a 1 day pass, and couldn't refuse.

3. Were there any panels you were looking forward to in particular?

I was attempting to attend the 50^TH Anniversary Doctor Who Panel.

4. Did you take part in any particular activity?

The only events I was able to do were the dealers room and obtain a few SDCC Exclusives. Many were sold out due to people camping out overnight to be first in line for the special items.

5. Were there any exclusives you were looking forward to? Were you able to get them?

I was VERY excited for the JEM Gold Holograms figure and the Power Rangers 24K Morpher. However she sold out within 20min. I was able to pickup the Doctor Who Tennant bobble head and DJ PON3 exclusives.

6. How crowded was it?

EXTREMELY Crowded. PLAN AHEAD! Plan to wait in long lines, and lines sometimes being capped due to fire hazards. And map out what you want to do and be EARLY!!!!!! The Dealers room is huge!!!! You could spend an entire day in there and probably not see everything.

7. Did you meet any celebrities?

Due to being there only 1 day, no. I attempted to get in a last minute Matt Smith panel but it sold out in 5min. Matt Smith and other celebrities were known to walk around wearing full masks so they wouldn't get bothered by fans. So you never know who’s under the mask!

8. Anything else that you enjoyed about Comic Con?

Most attendees are very nice and helpful. Stay on twitter for updates in the con, when celebrities are walking around doing free autographs/pictures. Bring water and easy snacks as you spend a lot of time walking around and in lines.

9. Anything else you would like to share?

If you don’t have a ticket to SDCC GO ANYWAY! There is so much to do across the street from the con and you don’t need a badge to attend. They have many free arcades, freebies, and events. If it’s your first year attending, it can be very overwhelming. It gets very crowded (and sold out), so plenty of traffic and people. Trolleys run 24/7 during SDCC but are very crowded. There is parking, however it is limited and expensive.

10. Have you been to any other “Cons” and planning to go to more this year?

Yes, I've been going tons of Cons since 2000. I plan to attend a My Little Pony con in San Diego this year, and hoping to obtain SDCC tickets for next year.

Smash Brothers: New Character Announced

Hey Everyone, 

That's right a new challenger has been announced for the new installment of Smash Brothers for Wii U and 3DS. 

Captain Olimar and Pikmin will be making an appearance for all you Pikmin fans. 

That's exciting news but again I just want my Ice Climbers! 

Smash Brothers is slated for a 2014 release.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Hello Everyone, 

At 2013 SDCC writer and Director Joss Whedon made an appearance and officially announced the title of Marvel's The Avengers 2. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 

"Age of Ultron" is a recent Marvel Comics storyline so we shall see how that translates to the big screen. 

Either way I am excited to see what additional information comes out about this movie.

Robocop Reboot

Hey Everyone,

That's right! There will be a Robocop reboot!

This reboot will be starring Joel Kinnaman as Robocop and Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton will also be present in the film. 

In this adaption Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is not killed by a ruthless outlaw. He is actually not killed at all. He is instead severely injured by a car bomb that leaves him gravely burned. In order to "save" him he is instead transformed by OmniCorp.

The movie is scheduled for release for February 2014.

Superman & Batman Movie

Hey Everyone, 

It has been revealed at SDCC 2013 that there will be a Batman and Superman Movie! 

Fans at SDCC were excited to hear from Greg Silverman from Warner Bros. Pictures that there will be a Batman and Superman movie. They will be bring Henry Cavill along with most of the cast from Man of Steel. 

However, no mention of who will be playing Batman. Production is expected to begin in 2014 with an anticipated release date of Summer 2015. 

Rumor: A Flash film for 2016 and Justice League for 2017. I still want my Aquaman but I guess I will settle for these movies.
