Newark Comic Con: The Original Gata

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your brand?

I myself and my brand are one in the same... and that comes down to unbridled, unlimited insanity... the wild crazy and unacceptable is my artistic play ground. If I can do it I can do it and do it well I wanted it on my artist and professional resume.

What made you decide to get into your field?

I didn't chose a field it chose me... My joy outside of my children and my family is my work and my craft... I had no choice if I wanted to be happy in the least bit. Entertaining has been a passion for as long as I can remember.

What is the vision of your field? What do you hope to achieve?

The scope of my field is nearly endless... If I can imagine it, I can see it. it's sheer possibility.... and I think I want what every artist/performing artist wants to leave a body of work that stands for all time.... not good or bad.... lasting.... something that says to those who care to know.... I was here...

What is your favorite work you have done thus far? Why?

That depends on my mind set at the moment.... I have so many... I think right now it is my short, Shadowhunters: DevilSpeak that hasn't been release as of yet... I learned directing under fire...I also produced and starred in it as well.

My second favorite would be the production and modeling of my Comicbook "Tha Original Gata" which has my big brother Tony Todd in it, as well as ECW wrestler Tommy Dreamer and a multitude of other talents.

Tells us more about "Tha Original Gata, Cat O Nine Tale"? What else do you have coming out soon?

The 'Gata' project is a Graphic Novel in the spirit of the classic pulp fiction genre (which gave birth to comic-books) it's also very much like a movie series as it has models/actors lending their image to the work... we are still perfecting the format and market testing because we really want the fans to get what they are looking for... a nice marriage of great story... incredible art work and faces they know to bring an extra element to the voices in the story.

What do you have coming out in the near future?

It's hard to say what's coming out next beyond the short film 'Devil Speaks' ... so much finished work can be release at anytime.... some never at all... but you can look for fun popcorn horror, books and comics and music and wrestling and photos and cos-play and T.V and any other creative outlet I can manage.

I will say also that I've been doing a lot more in the wrestling field with Tommy Dreamer's promotion, House of Hardcore as we just debuted the show in Toronto Canada. I can also be seen with the promotion on the fight network.

What is your website? Contact information?

I have an extremely supportive fanbase on social media and I am always VERY appreciative. I interact with my fans regularly because without them, I'm nothing.

I'd also like to say that, I was always told that I couldn't earn a living in this business having children. Well, I have 10 children, run 4 businesses, act, cosplay, wrestle, model, sing and a flurry of other things whilst raising my children. I love the fact that my job is something I LOVE doing. My children are my driving force and the reason why I CAN do it all. Never allow anyone to take your fire from you. Keep pushing past your obstacles to get what you want in life. It's not easy, but its certainly worth it!
~ Monique "GATA" Dupree

BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS -- Opening September 4

Watch the Trailer Here

Bloodsucking Bastards takes audiences on a hilarious, blood-spattered roller coaster ride in the most terrifying locale of all: the American workplace. The film stars Fran Kranz as Evan Sanders, a low-level, dutiful employee stuck in a boring job at a soul-killing every corporation. Evan’s the kind of guy who does all the work and gets none of the credit, but at least he gets to spend his days with his beautiful co-worker/girlfriend Amanda (Emma Fitzpatrick) and his slacker best friend Tim (Joey Kern), so he soldiers on in the hope of one day getting his coveted sales director position.

Unfortunately, it all falls apart in one fell swoop when Amanda breaks up with him and Evan’s boss Ted (Joel Murray) hands his promotion to his college nemesis Max (Pedro Pascal). And it isn’t just their sordid past Evan has to deal with. After his fellow officemates start going through disturbing changes (which, paradoxically, make them better employees) and bodies begin to pile up, Evan learns the horrible truth: Max is a vampire. And even worse… a vamp with a plan. Evan must find a way to stop the evil brewing amidst the cubicles, expose Max as the bloodsucking bastard that he is, and save his pals before his life and career go from dead-end…to just dead.

Directed by Brian James O’Connell and penned by the popular comedy troupe Dr. God and Ryan Mitts, Bloodsucking Bastards recently made its world premiere as the opening night film at the Slamdance Film Festival 2015.

Starring:

Fran Kranz (Cabin in the Woods)
Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones)
Emma Fitzpatrick (Significant Mother, The Collection)
Yvette Yates (Inherent Vice)
Joel Murray (Mad Men)
Joey Kern (Cabin Fever)

Bloodsucking Bastards opens in select cities and on VOD beginning Sept 4.

Supporting Tynion will be Snyder, Tim Seeley (GRAYSON), Genevieve Valentine (CATWOMAN), Steve Orlando (MIDNIGHTER), Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly (HACKTIVIST) and Ed Brisson (SHELTERED), all scripting key issues of the weekly series. In order to commemorate the various Robins throughout the years, a brand new infographic was unveiled at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Most famous is Dick Grayson, but Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, Damian Wayne, and Carrie Kelley have all proudly carried the moniker. Furthermore, the newest iteration of Robin in The New DC Universe now appears as the WE ARE ROBIN team, a group of teens who all embody the idea of Robin and bravely save the streets of Gotham City.

Movie Review: LA. Slasher

Story Line:  Incensed by the tabloid culture which celebrates it, the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, while the media and general public in turn begin to question if society is better off without them. A biting, social satire about reality TV and the glorification of people who are famous for simply being famous, "L.A. Slasher" explores why it has become acceptable and even admirable for people to become influential and wealthy based on no merit or talent - purely through notoriety achieved through shameful behavior.

My Thoughts: This movie is filled with heavy hitters in terms of the names. You have Misha Barton, Dave Bautista, Andy Dick, Eric Roberts, amongst others.

This movie takes a look at the blood thirsty social media users. As the celebrities in Hollywood are kidnapped and killed on the internet more people tweet while the news sensationalizes it. The public eats it up and are disgusting enough to believe that the killer is doing the public a service by killing these famous individuals.

Overall the film makes you take a look at what we view as celebrities as well as our own harsh words used daily via social media. I enjoyed the concept behind this movie and happy that there is finally more original movies coming out. The remakes and sequels are getting to be a bit much lately.  Plus if you love horror trust me when I say that you get your blood and gore.

Great Moments: Anytime that you had Danny Trejo. He was awesome in this film and I enjoyed watching him. Also the score for this movie was perfect. I loved every song that was used and it was coupled perfectly with each scene. I would recommend seeing this movie and letting me know your thoughts.
