Movie Review: Magic Mike XXL

Storyline:
Picking up the story three years after Mike (Channing Tatum) bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, the film finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blowout performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

My Thoughts: This movie is the first of its kind; an actual sequel of a stripper movie. As such the storyline is barely there. Well it is really thin to say the least. The gang is just going to a stripper convention and as such you can guess how it ends with them winning. So in regards to this it is more about the fun of them traveling to the convention. They face various problems which bring a smile to your face.

Mike meets up with an old friend, Rome (Jada Pinkett Smith). Rome runs a beautiful stripper house if you will. I would love to have a membership to that place.....hmmmm possible new hustle is on the horizon. Smith in my opinion really made this movie. She was just so smooth and fun to watch. It was a bit like her character from Gotham. I enjoyed her placement in the movie and frankly did not miss Matthew McConaughey. They went the right route by adding more chocolate in the movie and especially putting a big name like Michael Strahan who appeared to know that he was doing. Overall the dancing was fun but there was still those weird camera angles. They would focus too long on a person's face for no apparent reason. It made those moments awkward just like the last movie.

If you are going for some nice eye candy then have at it. If you are going for something with substance go to another movie. I found it funny that the movie ended in a fashion just like Ocean's Eleven as everyone stood around watching fireworks. Check the movie out and let me know your thoughts.
