TeeFury

Hey Everyone,

Here is another fantastic Graphic Tee company: TeeFury

I was able to pick up a fantastic tee from TeeFury for only $13.00. There was also a Fanboy tee. The shirts are 100% cotton and are appropriately sized. The shirts only run for the 24 hours and then they change so you have to move quick. Keep the money ready because there are a lot of awesome tees on there for both guys and girls.

Xbox One gets a Release Date!

Finally!!!!

A release date for Xbox One has finally been announced. Get yours on 11/22/2013!!!! Everybody do a dance!

It has also been confirmed that the development team has increased the CPU from 1.6GHZ to 1.75GHZ, roughly a 10 percent increase in CPU performance. This is on top of the 6% increase previously announced for the GPU. What does this mean to you the gamer? It means that the Xbox One will have that much more power for developers to make their games and entertainment really shine.

November 22 is a special day in Xbox history – on this day, Microsoft first launched Xbox 360 in 2005.

I finally made my preorder! Let's go!!!

Gamer Corner: Talon

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to this week's installment of Gamer Corner, where Fangirl Reviews interviews a gamer and gets their thoughts on the gaming world and learn what they are enjoying at the moment.

Tell me a little bit about yourself?
I’m a 29 year old married Graphic/Web Designer.  I was born in New York but now live in Louisville, Kentucky and went to college at Full Sail and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
What rig do you currently game on?
I currently waiting for next spring to update my PC but I also own a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and a Vita. I also have a PS4 preordered.
What game are you currently playing right now?
With next-gen consoles incoming I’m just trying to wade through my backlog of games I may have missed. The last great game I’ve played was The Last of Us and I’m definitely looking forward to GTA V.

Do you enjoy that game, why? How’s the overall game play?
The Last of Us made me remember why I play video games. I felt the same way when I played Metal Gear Solid back in 1998. Narratively driven games are actually becoming more frequent. As a kid I remember that most of the time when I wanted a interesting story, I would have to play an RPG. Now it’s almost a surprise when a game’s plot isn’t at least serviceable. I think the one thing people complain about with The Last of Us was the actual game play. I honestly believe most of those people were just expecting a different game. It’s not Uncharted or Gears of War.  Everything is very subtle. All your crafting and Item management is done without actually pausing the game is time consuming. You don’t want to get in a huge fight and when you do you're panicked.
Would you recommend it?
Definitely but I understand that some people may not be into it.
Are there any games coming out that you are looking forward to?
GTA V, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4, Destiny, Octodad, Don’t Starve(PS4) and Planetside 2(PS4). I’m sure there are more but I’m kinda surprised with the number of open world games I listed.

What kind of gamer do you classify yourself to be? ie. PC, Console, Tabletop, LARP as well as Hardcore, RPG, etc.
I really don’t want to limit myself. Lol, I play mostly on consoles but I love my PC as well. I play everything from super casual  to “Hardcore” games. I have a friend that LARPs but I haven't taken up a sword yet. Lol
So with the new consoles coming out, which way are you leaning One or 4?
I have a PS4 pre-ordered because I like Sony’s variety but I plan to pick up a XBox One after Christmas.
Favorite Game (can include tabletop) of all time and why?
Of all time it’s probably a toss up between Super Mario Bros. 3, Half-Life 2, Metal Gear Solid, Portal 2 on different days. Those games all changed what I thought of video games at whatever time they released.

Would you like to share your gamer tag and the system so others may add you?

Sherlock Music Time

This week we are looking at music!!!! I am a huge music fan, I mean huge.  I feel that a lot of TV shows do not understand how to incorporate amazing music to make for an over all experience.  Sherlock does not have that problem.

So without further delay here are 5 covers of the Music from Sherlock that I really enjoy.

First we start with a Music Box.

I think this is pretty clever.  It's short sweet and awesome! DIY Music Boxes are the bomb!!

The instrument shown below is called a Guzheng. It is a very old Chinese instrument similar to the Dulcimer.

The video quality isn't great but I really enjoy it and the sound is great. I think that the sound of a traditional Chinese instrument playing a very Western style composition piece makes for a very unique cover.

Next we move on to A Violin Cover (It's Sherlock I have to post a Violin Cover)

This cover is great as it shows the music of both parts she is playing.  With a bar to help you see where she is in the music. The melody is nice and clean because it is only her playing.

Tango/Sherlock...I'm in let's hear it!!!

So the video is a bit odd and the volume mixing for this was not amazing but this is still very very cool. They have combined Moulin Rouge's Roxanne Tango with Sherlock's Theme.  It sounds like it should not go together but, they make this mesh beautifully.

EPIC PIANO COVER!!!!!

Ok this is a little over 8 minutes long but it is worth it.  The video is fantastic as scenes from the show playing different themes and songs from the show.  It is pretty to watch and amazing to listen to!

Hope you enjoyed and see you next week.

I love Anime don't you?

5 People Who Would be Worse at being Batman than Ben Affleck

Hey Everyone,

This week's Vikki's Musings: 5 People Who Would be Worse at being Batman than Ben Affleck

5. Nick Cannon – Now I am sure that I am not the only person that has been subjected to Cannon's appearances in these weird teen movies on Nickelodeon. Sadly I am not even talking about Love Don’t Cost a Thing, that was bad enough but could you imagine the pain and agony we all would have if he was casted as Batman?

4. Miguel – While he may enjoy singing he apparently tried to make an attempt at doing some Batman stunts and ended up landing on the neck of an unsuspecting fan. So actors tell rappers to leave the acting to them, stuntmen need to same the same to singers. If he can’t clear a simple jump, he could not possibly succeed at being Batman.

3. Justin Bieber – no explanation needed.

2. Leonardo DiCaprio – listen I know some of you are fans of his and I do appreciate his work but have you not noticed that when he cries his voice goes real high? Also he begins to whine and wail like I have never heard before. It makes me want to run around screaming bloody murder every time he starts.

1. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – now do not get me wrong, I am a huge fan of The Rock! I think he is awesome, however have you seen his recent pictures for Hercules? He looks….well let’s just say he had no neck before and now well I think the Batman suit will need to be modified greatly for him. It seems like when there is a sequel in the midst, Hollywood throws in Johnson to keep the money rolling. In this case it needs not to happen.

Honorable Mention: Gollum – Yes the hobbit formally known as Smeagol. The guy that goes around obsessed over a piece of jewelry. Well it is just a ring not even the 4 carat diamond that Affleck gave his wife but a simple gold ring infused with major mojo. So I guess it is okay for him to obsess over the ring. It would be horrendous to have him as Batman.

Other honorable mentions: Channing Tatum and Vin Diesel

So now that you have been subjected to how bad it could be aren’t you at least more accepting of Affleck? We all questioned Hathaway as Catwoman and she did a surprising job so let’s hope for the best and be prepared for the worse.

PAX Prime 2013 Wrap-up

The Penny Arcade Expo (better known as PAX Prime) is one of the video game industry’s biggest fan event. Fans get a chance to have hands on game play and see what the gaming industry has to offer.

Batman: Arkham Origins: Players in Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be able to choose their fate in terms of boss fights. According to the director, Mark Pacini, the last hour of the game is different depending on which boss you fight and what items you receive. So basically play the game differently each time so you can see all the endings.

Super Time Force: Have no fear, Super Time Force will definitely come in 2013. Capy Games president Nathan Vella confirmed that the Xbox Live Arcade game will include two new playable characters, a shot gun wielding soldier by the name of Melanie Gibson, and anthropomorphic turd by the name of Squirt.

Mighty No. 9: Veteran game designer and producer Keiji Inafune revealed that he is working on a spiritual successor to Mega Man called Mighty No. 9. He is seeking 900,000 on kickstarter to fund his new side-scrolling action game.

XCOM: Enemy Within – After some hands-on game play it was introduced at PAX the concept of a meld resource with limited availability. Gamers had a chance to collect meld and fight alien invaders at the same time. Meld is a new resource that has been added to both new and old maps and gives soldiers genetic mutation (g-mod) abilities. Keep in mind it is limited and not easy to obtain.

Scribblenauts Unmasked is a DC mash-up for the series. It is essentially a who’s who of the comic book world. It boasts more than 2000 characters, vehicles, and items from the DC world. The game has a Batcomputer that filters the objects into select categories making it easier for gamers to pick the specific hero, villain, team, vehicles, and objects. It is a great navigational tool.

Phoenix Wright – Dual Destinies: In a gameplay demo at PAX it was revealed that a major amount of evidence showing that Wright has met potential a grisly end. The game appeared to handle well and provided the witty humor that we have all come to love. It is an acquired taste but I do recommend try the series out. This is the 5th installment in the series.

Dragon Age: Inquisition – You can now play as a qunari, the horned antagonists from Dragon Age II. Also you can even play as a female qunari. Exploring the open world in this game allows for the player to influence and grow in infamy as well as grow your army. Also with the next gen consoles abilities, Dragon Age is able to be visually pleasing and bring the beauty of destruction to a forefront. There is now a dialog wheel that allows you to see a pop-up that will explain what is likely to happen if you say or do something. It is optional so keep that in mind.

That is my snap-shot of PAX Prime 2013. Keep in mind this is not all the information out there by any means but I just wanted to give everyone an overview of PAX. There are a lot of great videos to check out with fantastic game-play. I would recommend you check out the link below for some great Wrap-up videos.
