The Avengers Vol 1: Avengers World

Hey Everyone,

The Avengers Volume 1: Avengers World Review

So did you enjoy the Avengers movie? Did you enjoy the interactions between Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and The Hulk?

What if I told you there was a comic that was just like the movie but with more heroes? That’s what you’ll get with Avengers Volume 1: Avengers World by Jonathan Hickman and Jerome OpeƱa.

The book starts out with Tony Stark having an epiphany, what happens if there’s a problem too big for the Avengers? Together with Captain America they decide, to get more Avengers.

Of course they then run into a problem that’s too big for the roster of Avengers from the movie and it is left to Captain America to send out the call for the next batch of Avengers.

Hickman does a great job introducing the new characters and the way Tony Stark and Captain America approach everyone has a feeling of the recruitment parts of a caper movie.

After dispensing with the threat the second half of the book is dedicated to telling more about the new characters and highlighting the relationships between the expanded team and the previous team members. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoyed the movie and is looking for a jumping on point to get into the comic.

  1. Hey Victoria!
I was thinking about this series lately. What are your thoughts about these mega teams that Marvel seems to roll out? Great storytelling? Or smart marketing ploy? I sometimes feel that the storylines are clogged with too many characters. However, i did go see the Avengers movie because Iron Man was in it.
