Recap: Grey Worm and Missandei share stories of how they were
captured when they were slaves.
Missandei has been teaching him to speak English. Grey Worm and the rest of Dany’s troops
disguise themselves as slaves and talk to the slaves of Meereen. They convince them to revolt against their
masters. With the slaves now freed, Dany
chooses not to show mercy and has the former masters of Meereen nailed to mile
markers as punishment, just as they did to the children before.
Jaime visits Tyrion in prison. Jaime doesn’t think that Tyrion killed
Joffrey, so he asks what he could do to help him. Tyrion asks him to break him out of
prison. Jaime refuses and tells him he
must go to trial. Jaime suggests that
Sansa may have had something to do with the murder since she has
disappeared. Tyrion doesn’t agree. On his ship, Lord Baelish reveals to Sansa
that he is marrying her aunt and that he is taking Sansa to her. He also tells her that the poison that killed
Joffrey was in the missing stone from her necklace.
Olenna Tyrell tells Margarey how she seduced her husband
when she was young to get him to marry her even though she was supposed to
marry someone else. She advises her to
seduce Joffrey’s brother, Tommen, to secure her place as queen. Olenna Tyrell hints that she had something to
do with Joffrey’s death. At Castle
Black, Jon Snow tries to train the men to fight, but faces opposition from the
elders. They later agree to let him train those who volunteer. He
gathers some volunteers, including Locke (who is actually a recruit), to
execute his plan of defense. Jon and Sam
wonder where Bran is. Cersei questions
Jaime’s loyalty to her and their son because he doesn’t think Tyrion killed
Joffrey. Margaery sneaks into Tommen’s
room and begins to befriend him while telling him they will marry. He promises to keep this visit and future
visits a secret.
Jaime gives Brienne a sword and suit of armor as a
gift. Then, he sends her to find Sansa
and protect her. Brienne names the
sword “Oathkeeper” and sadly sets off on her journey to find Sansa. Karl Tanner orders Rast to feed one of the
Stark wolves that he has caged up.
Before he can do that, he is ordered to offer Craster’s male baby to
gods. He leaves the baby out in the snow
and one of the Whitewalkers takes it.
The Whitewalkers do something to the baby that turns his eyes ice
blue. Bran and his crew are captured by Karl Tanner’s men.
Review: This week we learn how much Olenna Tyrell has been plotting
for Margaery’s future. As I suspected,
she had something to do with Joffrey’s death.
Brienne is clearly in love with Jaime and doesn’t want to leave him to
look for Sansa, but she does it anyway to keep Jaime’s oath to protect the
Stark girls.
I’m worried that Dany’s decision to nail the former masters
of Meereen to mile markers may backfire on her later. Her army is growing, but she might regret not
showing mercy later. Finally, the
Whitewalkers showed up again. They’ve
been taking all of Craster’s male babies.
So, what exactly have the Whitewalkers been doing with the
babies? Baby Whitewalkers??
