Gamer Corner: Gamesphere

Welcome to this week's installment of Gamer Corner, where Fangirl Review interviews a gamer and gets his thoughts on the gaming world and learning what he is enjoying at the moment.

Tell me a little bit about yourself? What rig do you currently game on? What kind of gamer do you classify yourself to be? ie. PC, Console, Tabletop, LARP as well as Hardcore, RPG, etc.

We are 2 brothers from Germany. We have been playing Video games since our Childhood. There is nothing special we really prefer. Games we always play are: FIFA, Call of Duty, NBA 2K series, but also Pokemon :D. Currently Playing: South Park: Stick of Truth (PC), Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze (Wii U), Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4). But in fact: we play almost all different kind of games for PS4, Wii U, PC, 3DS and also on our Smartphones and Tablets. I think Hardcore fits good.

What is your first memory of gaming?

My first memory (I am 23 years old): SNES with all the Super Mario Games. My brother (15 years old): Game Boy with Pokemon Red/Blue.

What game are you currently playing right now? Do you enjoy that game, why? How’s the overall game play and graphics?

South Park: Stick of Truth: Just started the game yesterday. Gameplay is pretty easy, good to handle. As we are fans of South Park, it is really what we expected. Graphics is typical South Park. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze: great game. I grew up with Nintendo and games like DK. I am totally in love with the Wii U Game Pad. Killzone: Shadow Falls: Awesome Next Gen Graphics. We spent a lot time on PS4 with other Games (FIFA, CoD, NBA). But now I can say: it is a really good game and I am enjoying it really.

Would you recommend it, why?

For all 3 games: YES! South Park especially for Fans, Donkey Kong is a typical Nintendo Game. You got to love it! And Killzone is a very good Next Gen Game with great graphics.

Are there any games coming out that you are looking forward to?

I am looking forward to: Watch Dogs, Destiny, InFamous: Second Son and Super Smash Bros (Wii U)

If you could design your own game what would it be like?

Thats a really good question. I think it would be a mix of The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls, and that's all as an open World Game like GTA. So it will be a Psychological Thriller with Zombies in an Open World. I think I would really love it!

Thoughts on this new generation of consoles – Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One?

PS4: great console, but at the moment not that much games. In the Next weeks InFamous will come out. I think It is the winner of the Next Gen Consoles. Xbox One: Dont have one yet. Has some good games. I think this year I will buy one. Now Titanfall coming out and would really like to play it on the Xbox, but I will have to wait. Wii U: got mine since about 2 weeks. I waited a long time, because there were not so many games out yet. But I decided to buy one with all the games like New Mario Bros U, Super Luigi U, Super Mario 3D World, Pikimin 3, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze I am happy with it! And this year also Mario Kart and Smash Bros. will be released! So looking forward for this gaming year with the Wii U.

What are your thoughts on the gaming industry?

We have made real big steps the last year. After seeing what last year came out with The Last of Us or Beyond Two Souls, the graphics and Gameplay were really awesome for the Last Generation. So the next gen will need to make big steps. What I dont like: almost no finished games, always need DLCs to Fix it. And a lot of publishers want money for that. So you pay a high price and wait some months to get a finished game.

10 years from now, where do you see the industry? Are you happy with that direction? If you had the power, what direction would you have the gaming industry go?
I think in the future all games will be bought online. No Disc, only in the Library like Steam and Origin. DLCs will have a huge role. The Industries will try to keep games alive with that and publish every few months with new stuff for the games. Also I am hoping that the genre "pay to win" will die. There are so many games could be so awesome, but with buying strength points and so on it is destroying the game. That is my thought and hope :)

Favorite Game (can include tabletop) of all time and why?

I have a lot of favorite games: The Last of Us: Awesome story, you don't only play the game, you feel the characters. It is something awesome! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: the game I am playing since over 10 years. Once a year I play it again and again. It is a memory and also something like a almost perfect game to me.

Shenmue: played it on the SEGA Dreamcast. It was a revolutionary game at that time. I am hoping we will see a third part of this game soon! GTA San Andreas: The perfect GTA game for me. It has everything I could ever imagine of a GTA game. Big World, lot of vehicles, gym, barber shop, crew fights. A complete game I also love to play today.
