Wonder Woman Vol. 4: War

So if you’ve been following my posts on here you know that, for my money, Wonder Woman has been the best of DC’s New 52. Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang are keeping up that pace with this volume. We start this volume where the last one left off, with Diana and her merry band of outcasts enjoying they’re recovery of the last child of Zeus. That sense of joy is cut short by the typical scheming and backstabbing of Wonder Woman’s family, the Greek Gods of Olympus. Her uncles Poseidon and Hades are plotting with the newly awoken first born son of Zeus and Hera to get rid of Apollo, who's taken over Olympus. Meanwhile Apollo is plotting on the last born child of Zeus, who is prophesied  to kill one of the gods and claim their throne. Needless to say the action is soon to follow and it gets really crazy really quickly.

Thrown in alongside all of this nonstop action and Olympian plotting we get to see the New 52 version of New Genesis as well as finally meet Orion’s father, Highfather. It was great to see Jack Kirby’s creations in the new reimagined DC Universe and I am looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.

Cliff Chiang does an amazing job as always illustrating the action of this series and I can’t wait to see how the ramifications of this volume play out in the next volume.

If you are a fan of Wonder Woman, Greek Mythology, or just good old fashioned good comics I highly suggest this series for you.
