Newark Comic Con Review

Newark Comic Con is the first Comic Con to come to the city of Newark. It was an exciting pop culture convention. Newark Comic Con hosted the latest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies and television. There was be a Cosplay Ball and a fantastic lineup of panels. Newark Comic Con was held at the Robert Treat Hotel and Military Park on September 12th, 2015 from 9am - 8pm.

I had the chance to really take part in the Newark Comic Con and even was in the commercial. The founder Mark Boulding was the driving force behind bringing the con to fruition. It was a learning to experience and I am grateful to have gone through it.

The Panels were very informative. I especially enjoyed the panel by Daryl Goza, "Black Characters in American Comics". This was a powerful and educational panel. I found myself ready to jump up and say, "The revolution will not be televised." Goza broke down all aspects and started from the beginning of comics. If you see his name anywhere and he is speaking about comics, then you need to find a way to check it out.

The Walking Dead Panel featuring Jeryl Prescott, Steve Coulter, and Stephen Vining. The panel had the most awesome moderator ever. Frankly it was the best moderator that any panel could possibly have. Yes I was the moderator. As a moderator for the first time, I had to think quick but it was fun and the talent was very helpful in making my first time as a moderator easy. Thank you Jeryl, Steve, and Stephen.

The cosplay was great. The talent included The Amazing Kreskin, Efren Ramirez, Michael Wright, Zuzana Vee, Steve Coulter, Taimak, Jeffrey Papazzo, Kevin Duhaney, Ron Wilson, Tommy Dreamer, Rocky Johnson, Kadrolsha Ona, Monique Dupree, Empire Saber Squad, The Mint Maids, Paris Cullins, The Gata Negrra and many more.

The con was well done and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I cannot wait until next year.
