The Vampire Diaries S6, ep. 6 "The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get"

Damon is back. Damon makes Stefan lie about what happened to Bonnie. Alaric tries to get Elena to let him lift the compulsion. He promises not to lift it until Elena asks. Elena told Jeremy over the phone that Bonnie didn't make it. Matt is working for Tripp. He feeds Enzo a small amount of blood to keep him alive. Tripp demands Enzo tell him about all the vampires. Matt finally tells Caroline and Alaric about him being locked up. He also tells them about Ivy being killed. Damon shows up to talk to Elena. She refuses to see him. They do the cliche hand on both sides of the door thing. Elena refuses to open the door despite Damon's begging. She finally unlocks it then takes off out the window. Elena is on the phone with Stefan and explaining that she ran. Elena is working at the hospital and is checking out Jo to see if she is on revaine and that is why she can ignore compulsions. Sarah shows up to Tripp's office demanding for Matt to tell her about the Salvatore line. 

Damon is having a drink in Alaric's office. He unloads him and has his sarcastic wit. Alaric stands on his principle and refuses to undo the compulsion. He leaves in a huff and takes the booze. Caroline and Stefan are walking in the woods as she lays into him for getting rid of Enzo. Damon is hanging out in Elena's dorm room. Jeremy shows up to ask Damon why didn't Bonnie come back. Damon lies to Jeremy saying Bonnie wasn't there. Damon tells Jeremy that Bonnie found peace. Jo knows that Elena and Alaric are vampires. Elena wants to know what Jo is but she appears to not be afraid. Elena believes Jo is a witch but that will just be too easy. Matt finds Ivy's phone in Tripp's office and guesses he knows what Caroline is. Damon calls Jeremy's voicemail to talk to her. 

Elena calls Damon and agree to meet. Tripp shows up to Elena and Caroline's room and tries to capture Damon. Damon goes down. Jo confronts Alaric about their relationship. Alaric tells Jo it is in her best interests to stay away from him as he has to save his brother. Damon is in the back of van with Enzo. Alaric and Stefan set up in the middle of the road to stop Tripp. The whole Scooby Gang plans to stop Tripp from killing Damon and Enzo. Tripp hits the gas and it loses control barrelling towards Mystic Falls. Damon and Alaric are across the border and both are dying. Stefan is watching them. He walks acorss the border to save them. Jo shows up and helps Alaric. Tripp climbs out of the truck and runs off. Stefan drags Damon and Enzo back acorss the border. Jo works on Alaric to keep him alive. He lives despite being on the other side of border line. Caroline tells Elena that Alaric is okay. All the magic stripped away from Alaric and he is no longer a vampire and he is human. 

Matt tells Sarah about Damon and Stefan Salvatore. He says they are vampires. He tells her to run if she wants to be happy. Jeremy is freaking out because he cannot cancel Bonnie's phone. Elena calls Alaric and wants him to know that she is happy that he got to be human again. Elena wants to look at Damon and know that her feelings for him are real. Caroline talks to Stefan and says she doesn't want to be friends anymore. Damon goes to meet with Elena. Elena opens the door to Damon. End.

My Thoughts:

I just wanted to scream at Elena to get her memories back. Now she will have to go to an original to get them back. I still do not think Jo is a witch. I think she is something all together new that we are not aware of. I wonder if she is a distant relative of someone. The border spell works on witch magic like vampirism. There are other types of magic and I think Jo is something we have not met before.

Sarah now knows she is a Salvatore. I wonder if Alaric will move into the boarding home where all the humans seem to be congregating. What were your thoughts?

Throwback Thursday: Golden Axe II

Hello Everyone,

New Throwback Thursday will reflect on Golden Axe II. I know you are asking yourself why did I pick II and did not review I. Well while I had both, I truly enjoyed playing II. The game was released in 1991. The three playable characters from the first Golden Axe, Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead, return in Golden Axe II. Basic plot is to save the people of the land by defeating the new evil clan, led by Dark Guld, and reclaim the Golden Axe, which is in his possession. The game features a total of seven levels: six scrolling levels and a final end of game boss battle against Dark Guild.

Golden Axe is the same hack and slash side scrolling set up as the first Golden Axe. You have the same thieves that come at night that you need to attack after they steal from you. There is also magic that can be utlized in the game. Ax Battler's has wind magic, Gilius Thunderhead has lightning, and Tyris Flare has her fire magic. I personally always played as Tyris as she was female. Any chance there was to play with a female character I immiediately embraced it. I remember going to the skating rink and playing the first Golden Axe in the arcade and I was so excited to get the second one for the Sega Genesis. Check out the walk through below.

Resurrection S2 Ep.6 "Afflictions"

Recap: Agent Bellamy gets medication to fight off the symptoms of the virus.  The medication must be injected every 12 hours.  He keeps some injections for himself, but gives Maggie the rest to distribute to others with the virus.  Agent Bellamy learns his true identity.  He was the Thompson baby that died in Arcadia in the 1930s.  His parents had the virus and disappeared a few days before he found out about them.  He connects with his sister and promises to come back for her.  Margaret lies about her involvement in Barbara's disappearance. 

Henry meets someone who is interested in investing in his furniture factory.  He doesn't realize the investor is the grandson of one of the "Returned" and may not be an ally.  Maggie is having trouble dealing with the loss of her mother.  She tries to hide it from everyone.  Margaret tells Jacob that she helped Barbara disappear and she will help him when it's time for both of them to disappear.

Review: I was right about who Agent Bellamy was.  Too bad his parents already disappeared.  Maggie is really going through it since Barbara disappeared.  I thought for sure her father would have caught her panic attack.  How is Agent Bellamy going to survive with that small amount of medication?

Margaret is just full of lies.  She keeps the show interesting, but she is a horrible person.  What's the pattern in nature the government lady was talking about?

Furious 7 Trailer Released

Hello Everyone,

In case you missed it. The Furious 7 movie trailer has been released. There also was a special on E! discussing the upcoming movie that is scheduled to be released on April 3rd, 2015. Check out the trailer below.

The trailer looks fantastic as always. Fast cars and lots of explosions, what's not to love. It will be bitter sweet as Paul Walker died half way through the making of this movie. I know that they used body doubles and CGI but is not the same. What did you think of trailer?

Doctor Who Season 8 … The Best of The New with a Good Dose of The Old

When I was 10 years old, my idea of fun was running around the house with my nephews while wearing a hat, a trench coat, and a few scarfs, pretending to be Tom Baker. I have had a love affair with The Doctor since then which has not died down in the least, over the years. So, it´s no surprise that when the rebooted Doctor Who came on TV, I was very pleased, but like most fans of the classic show, I also felt like something was missing. The three actors who have played The Doctor up to this current season, have been great, (one can´t deny) but they never really felt like THE DOCTOR! They were either too goofy or too friendly, and to counter balance it they were often times downright cruel.

Now this can be explained away with the rebooted storyline about the destruction of Gallifrey and The Doctor´s, “only living son” issues. Fortunately for us older fans, the angst was (in theory) done away with after the marvelous 50th Anniversary special. “Gallifrey Falls No More”, became a symbol of new directions for a show that got a little too Timey Whiny, if not just plain Whiny, for my taste. With the later news that the older and “slightly grumpy” Peter Capaldi would be taking over the role, an even brighter light began to shine in the darkness. Could The Doctor finally let go of all the baggage and finally be THE DOCTOR again?

The answer came as a resounding, “YES!” Though the plotting for the first few episodes, until Listen, were a bit weak, one thing stood out: Capaldi was awesome. He didn´t need hugs, emotional cuddliness, or even a companion – it felt like at times. He was once again relegated back to what he had always been, a renegade: often lying, morally suspicious, know-it-all, arrogant, fun and funny character. “Geronimo!” was replaced with “SHUT UP!” and kissing was replaced with “Don´t touch anything!”.

So why is all this mean-spirited mess such good news? Because as much as the new direction that Who took was wonderful to keep the show current and fresh, there was a certain gravitas and darkness from the original series that was missing. The original Doctor Who was presented as a kid´s show that never really was. In fact, a lot of the reason why it got canceled in the late 80s was due to how silly it had eventually gotten.

Think about it. William Hartnell´s version of the character kidnapped his first companions and barely trusted them through most of the first season. Even the ever-lovable Fourth Doctor had moments where one wasn´t quite sure if he was going to leave everything to fate, without much regard for the consequences. Mistrust was part of the game because in fact The Doctor was a conniver from the start, a thief – he stole The TARDIS and The Time Lords were not very happy about it! As much as the destruction of Gallifrey was a great plot twist, it also left us with a pointless Doctor, just wandering aimlessly through space. His subsequent romance with Rose, and later, with his geek-boy heartthrob image also did a lot to wipe out his essential character traits. As I said, these version of The Doctor weren´t unwatchable, in fact they were often enjoyable, but they were certainly not The Doctor.

Season 8 has proven that Moffat has his ears tuned into the ALL the fans requests for less cutesy and more “Doctorey”. He has stripped the show down to the essentials – the characters: they move the story and not the power of the TARDIS to move backwards and forwards in time at will. Even Clara, a character I really never loved, has matured and been allowed to be more her own person, and not an overzealous fan girl. Although, I won´t be complaining if she leaves and perhaps an alien companion joins The Doctor´s party: time to move away from London for a while.

Season 8 and Capaldi has brought The Doctor back to his roots without disrespecting the good that the rebooted series has also brought to the table. To top if off, part one of the mid-season finale proved that he has met a nemesis worthy of his elevated ground. Someone who is not, “Jim Carreyish” off the wall bonkers, but simply insanely mad without needing to shout every word of dialogue. Ahh, thank you season 8, where shouting has been prohibited on set! 

With this more serious and cynical tone, I believe Doctor Who is in safe hands for some years to come. Here´s hoping Capaldi sticks around to prove his worth as a great mix of the “Classic” and “New Generation” of Doctors. This is an old school WHO fan saying, thank you!

The Walking Dead S5, Ep. 4 "Slabtown" Recap

Beth wakes up in a hospital in Atlanta. It reminds me of Resident Evil for a moment there.  A cop (Officer Dawn Lerner played by Christine Woods) walks in with a doctor. They claim she was surrounded by walkers. They claim that they saved her and she owes them. Doctor takes Beth around and shows her another patient that he cuts off the life support, then kills to stop from becoming a zombie. Beth helps dispose of the body. It appears as though she now works at the hospital. They throw the body down the elevator shaft to be eaten by the zombies in the basement. A cop talks to her while she gets food and sounds like she is going to be used for something soon. Beth talks to the doctor and says that he is lucky if he feels safe enough to be bored. He shares some of his food with her.

A new patient comes in. They encourage the doctor to help save the guy. The Dawn becomes upset with the doctor (Dr. Steven Edwards) for not being able to save him and she slaps Beth in anger. According to the Edwards, Dawn is known for her anger. They see the two cops bringing in a woman, Amber. She was bitten and wants to die. They cut off her arm using wire which reminds me of the movie Audition. That movie creeped me out. Beth meets Noah (Chris from Everybody Hats Chris). Apparently Noah believed they killed his father on purpose. He wants to get out of there. There is no such thing as working off your debt. Dawn wants Beth to contribute and not see the place as a life sentence. Beth is humming as she is mopping up the blood. Amber claims "she can't control them". That there was some deal made with someone. Who is hoping that the someone is Neegan. Raise your hands! Beth is in her room and she notices the lollipop that she saved is gone. The male cop, Gorman, forces the lollipop into her mouth. 

Gorman is talking about owning people. Beth asks Dr. Edwards why does he stay. He shows Beth how the city was devastated and how they decided to stay where they were. Beth mistakes the name of the medication Edwards tells her to give the new guy. He dies from the medication. Noah takes the fall for when Beth messes up and causes the guy to be killed. Dawn corners Beth in the room. She alludes to do things for the greater good. She begins to pull mind games on Beth to make her feel weak and helpless. Noah and Beth plan to work together to get out. I am sure Noah will not make it so we shall see. Beth finds the girl, Amber, that they had to cut of her arm. She killed herself in the office. Gorman finds Beth in the office. He goes all creepy rapey like. She plays along and feeds him to the new zombie. She grabs his gun. 

Beth directs Dawn to the office and grabs Noah. We hear screaming in the background. Beth and Noah plan to descend into elevator shaft. Noah falls down as a walker tried to get him from a different floor. They move in the basement among the walkers. Beth uses the gun and they make it outside. Beth starts to run while Noah shambles behind her. There are walkers and tries to shoot who she can but Noah takes off running leaving Beth behind. She gets taken down by some cops. Beth smiles as she is held down.

Dawn confronts Beth. Beth lets her know that it is wrong to let the women be attacked by the male cops and that no one is coming to save them. She let this happen. Beth gets hit again. Beth has a new scar on her head. Beth knows that Edwards purposely had her kill the other guy because he was a doctor. The other guy was an oncologist. Beth is walking with a scalpel and sees they are wheeling someone new in. They wheeled in Carol. 

My Thoughts: Worst Sister Ever Award goes to Maggie who just never gave a damn about where Beth was. I understand the concept of having filler episodes but come on. I just wanted to scream and run around as this episode dragged on. I did enjoy seeing Everybody Hate Chris. So the whole 55 minutes was of Beth nonsense. The most important moment happens at the end just like all these filler episodes. It is so annoying. I hope we do not have a lot of these episodes. Oh well I guess we just have to suck it up and watch.
