Assassin's Creed Movie

The lead actor for Assassin's Creed the movie, Michael Fassbender has never played the game. He admitted to his lack of hands on game knowledge in an interview for his upcoming movie, 12 Years a Slave. However despite the lack of knowledge, Fassbender said he knows the series and is energized by the concept of the franchise.

"That's definitely happening. We're just developing the script at the moment. I'd heard of it but had never played the game," Fassbender said. "I don't have a video game player … that's not what they're called [Laughs]. I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting--the idea of reliving memories."

Fassbender was Ubisoft's first choice for the lead role in the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. It remains unclear which character from the Assassin's Creed universe Fassbender will portray. The Asssassin's Creed movie is expected in theaters in May 2015.

Ubisoft has a total of six movies in the pipeline. In addition to Assassin's Creed, the French publisher is making movies based on its Far Cry, Rabbids, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain creative control.
