Revolution S2, Ep. 10 “The Three Amigos” Review

Important Moments:

Show starts with a daring rescue of Rachel’s father. He is released to help Miles who has blood poisoning. Aaron is staring at the grave of Cynthia and is focused on what the nanytes said about Spring City. Miles wakes up and Monroe only has one request which is the location of his son. Miles agrees to take Monroe to his son whose name is Conner. Monroe, Rachel, and Miles head off to meet his son. Tom, Julia, and Jason are working together to take out the chief of staff so Julia’s current husband can take over.

Aaron decides to take off on his own leaving Charlie and Rachel’s father behind. Monroe’s son is in Mexico and is probably the reason for the title. Charlie is not able to find Aaron. Monroe highjacks the wagon into Mexico. They run into a road block of trying to find his son. The aunt and uncle who were caring for him are dead.

Jason is with a patriot guy who has an envelope with the eye symbol on it. Monroe meets his son in a bar after mouthing off to him. It was actually funny and well done. They let Connor know that his mother is dead. His son is in disbelief when he finds out the name of his father. He is the son of Monroe. Rachel starts taking shots at Monroe who is blaming Miles for how his son turned out and then he responds saying that by Rachel’s logic Charlie will grow up to end the world.

Jason reads the patriot paperwork and looks shocked. Tom gets the job done and kills the Chief of Staff. Monroe shows up to talk to his son again. Monroe lets his son know that he needs to aim higher. He ends up being taken to Connor’s boss. Now Rachel and Miles have to rescue him.

The patriots are giving out oranges and talk about trying to return life back to the a better time via handing out oranges. They are injecting something into the oranges before giving them to people. Aaron is out on the road by himself in Spring City, Oklahoma. Aaron finds Grace.

My Thoughts: I giggled at the disbelief of Rachel’s dad when he realized Charlie killed two people. He does not know his granddaughter at all. Then when she killed the men on the convoy, he just could not believe it.

Monroe is so clueless. How did he not realize that having Rachel help him find his son  would mean nothing. He killed this woman’s son. I wouldn't be surprised if she killed him in his sleep.Tom is playing a dangerous game. He wants his wife back but he needs her to be with her current husband. It is hard for a man to see his woman with someone else.

Now the question is what was the reason for Aaron going to Oklahoma and what is being injected into the oranges. Share your thoughts in the comments.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S1, Ep. 11 “The Magical Place” Review

Important Moments:

Show picks up with a girl buying an alien artifact. Ward and May come in and kick butt. Fitz and Simmons use their robots to help stop the bad guy. Skye hacks into the hotel and controls the elevator the bad guy is one and takes him straight to the Shield Agents. The guy is wanted for help with finding Coulson. It has been 36 hours since Coulson was kidnapped. Agent Hand has taken over and wants Skye kicked off the plane. May agrees that Skye will not be helpful and she is removed. Ward, Fitz, and Simmons help Skye.

Coulson wakes up in the hands of Centipede. He was dreaming of his time after death. He refuses to tell what he is seeing. The Clairvoyant cannot see how Coulson was brought back to life. Skye is now out on her own and finds that she is constantly being shut down by the Shield bracelet. Coulson is chained to a bed but has tweezers so he can pick the locks.

Ward joins in on the interrogation and uses Fitz and Simmons to help get the guy to talk. Coulson breaks out of his jail and finds he is in one of those Nuketowns (COD anyone?), Sadly Coulson does not make it far. Skye has a plan and breaks into a house of a CEO. She dresses up and plays as if she is May to get information out of Lloyd Rathman. She makes Rathman give her information that can help her find Coulson. Agent Hand questions why Coulson is so important. We get a Fury mention.

Coulson is being tortured and Rayna arrives to say that she was attending to their other guest. The Clairvoyant speaks to Rayna. Po ends up being killed and Rayna takes over. May had a plane and she had Skye removed because she knows Skye will do best not on the plane with all the agents watching her.  Centipede wants to know the secret of bringing someone back to life. Rayna works her magic with her sultry voice and tries to sway Coulson into trying to figure out the secret of his death.

Skye is able to use Rathman to track the bank information for Rayna. Coulson finally gives in and uses the machine to find out what happened after he died. Coulson sees Tahiti. He sees a doctor who asks who ordered this and the response is Fury. Skye shows up to Nuketown. Coulson claims that all he sees is the dark. Fight Sequence. May and Ward take out the bad guys as usual. Coulson sees they are working on his brain as he begs for them to let him die. Skye finds Coulson and knocks out Rayna. Rayna is in custody of Shield. Coulson wants to find the Clairvoyant. Coulson thanks his team. Awe, warm and fuzzy moment. Skye gets the bracelet taken off finally. Coulson shows up to talk to the doctor that worked on him. He is informed that he was dead for days and Fury ordered for him to be brought back to life.. He was given the pleasant memory so he did not remember what he went through in being brought back to life. He lost his will to live so they wanted to correct that.

Mike Peterson wakes up to find that he is burned and back with centipede. He is also missing his leg. I guess he is the other guest that Rayna was attending to.

My Thoughts:

I was excited to have the show back on. I was also happy to see that May was not being a jerk. She always has a plan. You should never doubt her. Great direction for Fitz and Simmons. Seeing those two in positions of strength was very well done. Those two yelling at the incompetence of the other agents made me giggle.

Agent Hand. I do not care for her but I understand that she is written that way specifically. She does ask the right question. Why are so many resources being used to find one agent. Coulson remembers everything. How freaky was that thing working on his brain. That just creeped me out. It was heartbreaking to hear him scream to just let him die. I wonder what he will do now that he knows the truth.

Okay who is the Clairvoyant? I am guessing that Rayna was talking about Peterson as the other guest. I am intrigued about those two individuals. Is the Clairvoyant someone we know? Someone in the Marvel world? Overall I am happy that they are finally moving the story line along. I was ready to give up on the show but now I will stick around.

Teen Wolf Season 3, Ep. 13 “Anchors” Review

Important Moments:

Show starts with Stiles having a nightmare. He is in the school and walks into the classroom to find the tree. It wraps around him. He wakes up and Lydia is there. He questions why she is there and sees that his door is open and he must close it so no one can come in. He opens the door and walks out and is at the tree in the forest. He yells at himself to wake up and is finally in the real world. Stiles asks Scott if it is still affecting him. He questions if it is real. He wakes up again screaming and his dad comes in to calm him down.

Scott is getting ready for school and notice that his shadow has claws. Isaac asks Scott if he is mad at him over the whole Allison situation. He gets thrown into the wall for his inquiry. Stiles starts to see words mixed up on books. Allison is rushing off to school and gets on the elevator. When it opens she is in the hospital. She has flashbacks of her aunt Kate. She ends up in the morgue and sees her aunt clawing her way towards her. Next thing Allison knows she is at school. Lydia points out the obvious that Allison, Scott, and Stiles are not fine. New girl at school is introduced, Kira. Scott’s eyes turn red and he cannot control it. This occurs after he makes eye contact with the new girl in the hallway.

Scott cannot control his change and ends up slicing up his hands to stop himself from turning. Stiles lets Scott know that he does not know if he is waking up and he cannot read anything. Lydia is trying to help Allison by helping her focus with her archery but she cannot hit the target. She ends up hallucinating and sees someone running in the woods. Lydia has disappeared and keeps Allison hearing her aunt whispering her name. Allison sees her aunt running to her and shoots the arrow and almost hits Lydia and Isaac stopped the arrow. Scott wants to know why Isaac was near Allison and he ends up being thrown into the wall again.

Stiles visits his father and wants to know what his dad is up to. Turns out he is going over his old cases and wants to know if they were supernatural in nature. There is one case that is bugging him and how it possibly could be werewolf related. The special case files are all being transferred to the FBI and Scott’s father specifically.

Stiles shows up to class and everyone is using sign language. Everyone is doing the same sign to Stiles and he finds himself waking up in class. Turns out he was not actually asleep and finds that he was writing out to wake up. New girl joins in the conversation of the Scooby gang about being brought back to death. She talks about people being in between states.

“When is a door not a door” is what everyone was signing. It turns out that there is a door in their mind that is open after they died and needs to be closed as soon as possible. Stiles father asks Scott for help with the missing girl. Stiles father shows up to the missing girl’s father house to ask about the case. Stiles and Scott sneak in to the house to see if he can catch a scent to see if they can find the girl. Scott unfortunately cannot get a scent.

Scott shows up to flip out on his father, turns out that Scott’s father is collecting the information to have Stiles's father impeached. Scott loses control and his mother tells him to be his own anchor and to calm himself down. Scott shows up to Stiles house and says that they will find the missing girl.

Isaac and Allison are making out. Kate shows up and kills Isaac but it is all a dream except she finds a knife in her bed. Scott and Stiles are tracking through the woods. They find the car and notice werewolf marks on the car. They encounter some eyes by the car. Scott tries to chase it down and finds himself face to face with a wolf. Who’s eyes turn blue and is a full wolf not a werewolf. Show ends with Derek and Peter being held captive and are being tortured.

My Thoughts: Great opening sequence. We all know that when our sleep is affected, we can easily go off the rails. It is a shame to see that Stiles is so affected. I always cheer for him. It is interesting to see Scott constantly seeing his shadow as a werewolf.

I enjoy seeing Scott throw Isaac into the wall. I agree with him and frankly he needs to beat him up more. Isaac is breaking guy code and needs to pay for it. New girl and her father must be supernatural of some sort that is attracted to the area. She would add an interesting dynamic if she turns out not to be a bad guy. I want Scott with Allison but if not it is time for a new love interest for him and Kira would make a great new love interest.

Raise your hand if you think Scott’s father may be supernatural in some way. He shows up at the worse time and is causing a lot of trouble.

Wow so Scott finds a wolf. First it has blue eyes so it must have killed an innocent. Next it takes the shape of a wolf and not a half wolf half man form. The only one we ever saw that had that ability was Derek’s mother. I wonder if we will see her.

I look forward to seeing where they are going with these various paths.

The Walking Dead Vol. 19: March to War Review

Disclaimer: This review contains spoilers. Be prepared. If you just watch the show or you are behind on the volumes then do not read this review.

Story line: The world we knew is gone. The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months society has crumbled: no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, the survivors are forced to finally start living. Rick. Ezekiel. Gregory. Negan. Each man holds the fate of their community in their hands... and WAR is on the horizon! This volume collects The Walking Dead #109-114.

My Thoughts: Rick and his crew are mourning the death of Glenn. Especially Maggie who has decided to stay on the Hilltop. Rick being Rick refuses to take it laying down and has joined forces with Jesus from the Hilltop and Ezekiel with the tiger. Yes the tiger.

You know you want this shirt!

This installment was overall really good. I enjoyed the interaction between Michonne and Ezekiel. It is nice to see that Michonne has a softer side. She is human and sometimes Rick forgets that as he forces her to pick up her sword once again to kill for him.

I respect Carl more and more after every single volume. He continues to prove how important he is to the crew. He may have pissed of Neegan but he basically showed everyone that Neegan can be easily affected. Carl is such a pivotal character and I am mad that they water him down so much on the show. But I digress, the novel was beautifully illustrated as usual. Seeing the death of so many characters and Andrea come so close to dying really brings Rick to the point that it is truly time to destroy Neegan.
Carl with an emo hairdo.
The story ends on a cliff hanger as they are finally going to go to war. I really thought this novel would have the actual war but sadly we will not see the true war until the next volume, Vol. 20 All Out War Pt 1. The fact that it is a part one makes me concerned with how many people will walk away from this one. The original group only contains Rick, Carl, Maggie, and Michonne. If Michonne dies I will riot. Volume 20 is scheduled to be released on March 11th so we shall wait and see.

It's time for war!

Movie Mondays: Go

Random Movie Monday is back again. The movie for this week is Go. It was released in 1999 and directed by Doug Liman. I know it is a bit far back but it is an enjoyable movie that you should check out.

IMDB Plot Summary: 'Go' is set mostly during one long Christmas Eve in the lives of a group of young adults on the events surrounding a drug deal in Los Angeles replayed three different times from three different views. In a straightforward manner; when slacker Simon Baines (Desmond Askew) takes off for a getaway to Las Vegas with his friends, Ronna (Sarah Polley) takes his shift at the 24-hour grocery store where they work. When two guys, named Adam (Scott Wolf) and Zack (Jay Mohr), walk in asking to score some dope from Simon, Ronna takes it upon herself and her friends Claire (Katie Holmes) and Mannie (Nathan Bexton) to buy some drugs from the local drug dealer Todd Gains (Timothy Olyphant). But the drug deal is a sting that Adam and Zack are forced to set up by an overzealous narcotics agent, Burke (William Fitctner). Ronna is forced to dispose of the drugs. With no other alternative, she tries to double-cross Todd with phony drugs. Meanwhile in Las Vegas, Simon's adventures with his best friend Marcus (Taye Diggs) hit an unfortunate turn during a trip to a strip club, while Adam and Zack end up spending Christmas Eve with Burke and his wife Irene (Jane Krakowsk), and afterward while driving to a rave where Ronna is dealing, the guys accidentally hit Ronna with their car and leave her for dead. Nearby, Mannie nearly OD's on dope, and Claire gets more friendly with a vengeful Todd whom is now looking for Ronna.

My Thoughts:  A fun movie in the same genre as Empire Records and Hackers. If you enjoyed those movies you will enjoy Go in my opinion. Plus who doesn’t love Katie Holmes being mixed up with a drug dealer. The movie happens in essentially a 24 hour period with three different perspectives telling the story. It is interesting to watch how a drug deal can go wrong and draw in so many different characters. What I enjoy most about this movie is that it has a cult classic feel to it. The characters are all intelligent and engage the audience with their quips and banter. It is hard to find movies like this now so when I stumble across one I must share it with you.

Overall a good installment to my random Movie Monday. Check the movie out and let me know your thoughts.

Gamer Corner: Donovan

Welcome to this week's installment of Gamer Corner, where Fangirl Review interviews a gamer and gets his thoughts on the gaming world and learning what he is enjoying at the moment.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?
       - I'm Donovan, 23, aspiring comedian, youngest of 3 boys, from North Carolina

What rig do you currently game on?
      - PS3 and Xbox 360

What kind of gamer do you classify yourself to be? ie. PC, Console, Tabletop, LARP as well as Hardcore, RPG, etc.
      - console, I love fighting and racing games. Definitely somewhere between casual and hardcore

2. What is your first memory of gaming?
     - when I was 8yrs old, my mom and I would play Mortal Kombat on Super Nintendo. My mom was actually skilled with Katana and knew the fatalities. Later when Dreamcast came out, my two older brothers and I played Power Stone together.

3. What game are you currently playing right now? Do you enjoy that game, why? How’s the overall game play and graphics?
       - I'm currently into Tekken 6 and GTA V. Tekken is one of my favorite fighting series. There are new characters and special stages for you to knock your oppent through. Graphics are very pleasing. GTA V is my main destresser. I really enjoy the level of violence and the realness of everything.

5. Would you recommend it, why?
             - Absolutely! If you like punching people through walls and off of balconies, Tekken 6 is perfect.  Like I said, GTA V is a great de-stresser.

6. Are there any games coming out that you are looking forward to?
        - I'm a little behind on my game news so I can't say at the moment.

7. If you could design your own game what would it be like?
      - It would be like Shenmue

8. Thoughts on this new generation of consoles – Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One?
      - I would love to eventually own those.  I really would like a Wii U. The concept of cloud gaming really caught my attention.

9. What are your thoughts on the gaming industry?
        - Consoles have come a long way since I started gaming. I just missed Atari.  It's become like cellphones, taking something originally designed for a specific set of functions then adding all these other capabilities.

10. 10 years from now, where do you see the industry? Are you happy with that direction? If you had the power, what direction would you have the gaming industry go?
         - I think consoles and handheld will be a huge emphasis on gaming and will dominate entertainment.

11. Favorite Game (can include tabletop) of all time and why?
       - Power Stone, I like that it has the old look but doesn't look so blocky compared to all the games that have come after it.

12. Additional Thoughts and Comments?
        - That is all for now

Thank you to Donovan for an awesome interview. If you would like to be interviewed for Gamer Corner please feel free to contact me at fangirlcontact@gmail.com.
